I bought a Juicer few weeks ago and have been experimenting with different things, but was wondering if anyone else on here does it, if so, what is your best recipe that you use?

Hey Mike, I'm moving this thread to the Nutrition forum. There are other threads in Nutrition which discuss juicing, so this will fit right in and you'll probably get more responses there too.

We've had a Champion Juicer for years ,   I like carrot juice the best .

Sometimes   I juice frozen Bananas  ,  They come out as super rich Ice Cream  :D

Bob likes to juice apples , me not so much !

Carrot juice  served  in a frozen goblet is ecstatic   ;)

                                                                                     Carl

P.s, We used to juice wheat grass , hard to swallow now  :P

I've decided to get a juicer after falling in love with Odwallas Carrot, Apple Mango juice :)

What kind do you have Mikey? Do you like it? I don't want to have to spend $400 on one of those fancy ones.

What benefits are you trying to achieve by becoming a juicer?  I'm asking because I was a juicer for years and had different concoctions for different needs.  I used my red cabbage juice when wanting to shed weight, and others depending on what I wanting to accomplish.  If you're low in a certain vitamin, you can choose a fruit/vegetable that's high in it.

If it's simply for the pleasure, one of my favorites was a basic tomato and jalapeno drink.  Don't be afraid to experiment around.

I quit after I started having to buy most of my produce at the market and realized how expensive it all is.  I can make an entire meal out of what it takes to make a full glass of juice. :(

I have a Breville juicer which if your going to buy one anyway Breville is easy to use, cleans very easily (important), and is pretty good.   http://www.amazon.com/Breville-BJE510XL-Fountain-Multi-Speed-900-Watt/dp/B000QBFFU8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1373946929&sr=8-3&keywords=breville+amazon

I agree with Wolfie though, juicing is very expensive. You have to buy a lot and juice a lot to get glass of juice.  And .... You realize very quickly just how much fiber you are leaving out.

Favorite recipe. Couple apples, couple carrots, some spinach, red beets, and ginger. (Red beets are great to juice to lower your blood pressure).

The best part of juicing is experimenting with recipes.

My wife has the bullet.  It's a little different than a juicer.

The one I like is called Nature's candy:

  2 cups butterhead lettuce.
  1 cored pear
  1 cored apple
  1 cup blueberries
  1 banana
  1 tsp. maca powder
     water
I despise the song Love is in the Air, you should too.

We do green smoothies at our house in a Vitamix, but I believe juicing is just as good; the only difference I've heard, is without the pulp/fibers, some people get constipated.

So, a pretty constant smoothie I make for us each day has:

1 apple
1 carrot
Handful of Kale/spinich or chard
1 Banana
1 mushroom
1 stalk celery
small handfull blackberries/rasberries/blueberries
2 heads broccoli
1/2 peach
1 tsp chia seeds
1/2 avacado
splash of apple cider viniger
cap full of aloe vera juice
1-2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 fresh basil leaf
little bunch of parsley if I have on hand
"some" filtered water haha... I guess at it.  You prob don't need if juicing and not blending though.

** I tried beets, but couldn't take the dirt flavor.  Oddly, I enjoy beets very much, just something about in the smoothie didn't work for me.

My partner and I'd CD4's each went up 400 points each and every other lab evened out to nothing outside the ordinary; my triglycerides dropped 50 points too, all after two months of drinking this!

 :) :) Hey Mikey

Yeah my Fave is Carrot, Ginger and Apple....Some of the greener juices such as wheat grass can be quite strong on the stomach and prob best in moderation.

Am gonna try Weasels frozen banana option and turn it into a smoothie.  :D
