Worried-information needed
« on: July 31, 2013, 10:12:06 am »
Hi Team

I kissed a stripper at a strip club and was too much terrified over the thought of getting hiv so after 6 weeks I went for a hiv test which came back to be negative then I just felt little relieved. Then I just went home and had sex with my wife after 6 weeks . After 7 months I just saw an hiv add on the television and again got terrified and stressed this stress and anxiety went for 1 week I could not eat concentrate on my work nothing in life I told this to a friend he told me that there is nothing as you got tested before and it was negative there is nothing to worry about if you are still worried go for a test this will make you feel good. I went for the test today and it came negative both hiv1/2. And I felt too much relaxed. But just now I thought that may be I have passed the virus to my wife . My question is

Can I have sex with my wife ?
Can I plan a kid in future ?
Do I need to take test again ?

Kindly reply me as I am too tensed and can not make love with my wife.

Hi Worried . The answers to your questions are you can have sex with your wife and have children and you need not test again for this no risk incident .

The risk for acquiring HIV are as follows ...

Sharing IV drug needles immediately after use.
Unprotected anal and vaginal sex.
Mother to child during or shortly after birth
Very specific healthcare situations.

Kissing isn't a risk for HIV and no one has EVER been infected from a kiss . Your HIV test is accurate and you do not have HIV .

Thanks Jeff for your prompt reply...

So I can have sex with my wife and have a child without any risk to anybody.

And I can forget everything else behind. And move on in life.

7 month test is reliable for my incident.

Thanks in advance

You have tested beyond whats adequate , the testing guidelines are 6 weeks past any possible exposure and again at 3 months to confirm the results .

You never had a risk so your 6 week test was more than enough to confirm you are HIV negative . Its safe to move on and put this to rest .

Hi Jeff thanks for your answer

One last question . I am HIV negative with the test after 6 weeks and 7 months.

Is it required for my wife also to get checked up for HIV. We got married in Nov 2012 and She was also HIV negative before DEC 2012 when I had this kissing with the stripper and I got tested negative after 6 weeks . and then coming back from Mexico i  had sex with my wife. and then i had this fear and anxiety in me after seeing the HIV advt. on television then I got tested again for HIV after 7 month and it came negative.

My only question is should I get her tested as well ?

In my view I should not. But my mind is not settling kindly advice the best.

I am planning Kids .

Worried,

YOU do NOT have hiv, so how on earth could you transmit it to your wife?

Again, kissing is NOT a risk for hiv infection, so all this worrying has been for nothing. Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

In adults, hiv is transmitted through:

Unprotected anal intercourse.

Unprotected vaginal intercourse.

Sharing drug injecting equipment.

And that's it.

Unless your wife is having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse with someone outside your marriage, or sharing drug injecting equipment with someone, then no, she does not need further hiv testing at this time.

If you cannot put this NO RISK, CONCLUSIVE NEGATIVE situation out of your mind and get on with your life, I suggest you seek out counselling. We cannot help you with that here.
