i went right to the store and paid $4.40 for a pack of Newport 100's and smoked 4 while walking the dog while being furious with him.  Went to the bar and smoked while downing some beer and shots of crown royal.  I can now look at him without being mad as hell but he is in the dog house

I am sure I fucked up something but I used the patch for about two months and suplemented with the gum and losenges when I was about to freak...  Now no patch and its ok...   I aint missin it... But dont quit the patch thinking you got it licked keep going for as long as the box says to..  That what screwed me the last time I tried...  Thought I had it and just stupid me said just one...  Nope...  Of course having hiv does give you a bit better reason and motivation me thinks....   Keep going and trudging the road to happy lungees....

It's cool I am going to pick up somemore patches tomorrow and continue because i can breathe much better especially since i play sports and run all the time.  Tonight, eventhough he is in the doghouse i am going to sleep in the bed (the couch is very uncomfortable and i am also too tall) but there will be no heavy breathing tonight.

Hi rugger: Keep on moving in the right direction. Have you noticed your sense of taste and sense of smell improves? A slip up now and again isn't failure. Good luck with the smoking cessation program. Eric made a good point. 21mg, 14mg, and 7mg patches to the full recommended time period is best.

Hey RapidRod: You have the will power of rugger. You have the will power of Eric. So why don't you get yourself a script of Chantix and do it. You can, you know. You are just convinced that an old dog can't learn new tricks. Oh! it's just a saying, you know? I am not calling you an old dog. ( how the hell would I know? hee hee )  ;)

Hey Rugger, if I can do it, anyone can. Trust me.

So far, its been a month and a couple of days since I packed off. Tell you, though, I have been tempted.

I still haven't had any alcoholic beverages. I'm afraid to just yet. Will power aside, a few drinks and I'm liable to smoke.

So, no booze for a month or two until I get it firmly under my belt.

If the patches fail, try Chantix. It really has worked for me.

Don't give up now.

HUGS,

Mark

well i have bought more patches and i will continue to be smoke free even if my bonehead bf gets on my nerves. Which frustrates me now because he is out with one of his friends that I really don't care for and I got that ole' familiar feeling (listening to Etta James and been drinking wine)

Hey I used to dip for years.  I quit a bunch of times.  What worked for me was Welbutrin (Zyban, Bupropion).  It worked after a couple of days!  I relapsed a couple of times but not bad and not for long.  Get the generic and it's cheap.  It really works.  Don't go thru that craving crap; go to the doc and ask for it.  Good luck!

Yes, a small % of users have noted this. The nicotine withdrawal (body craving component) can be the culprit. Emotional highs and lows bring on extraordinary dreamtime adventures, as well. As I understand it, you have both of these in your life, at time of these postings.
Some have claimed that when the object of addiction ceases to be in your dreams you are pretty much done with it. A mild temptation here and there but nothing insurmountable.
You may notice your temper (>:() will be quick to surface too. For me, it was for a span of 6 weeks that I had to monitor my attitude.
I hope you stick with it, rugger. You will like being smoke free.  For a time, avoid smoke filled places.

Rugger, just keep going.

You're going to be amazed at how much better you will feel physically as you de-tox from nicotine. Really.

This is a tough thing to do, but it's also a big favor to your health.

Press on, press on! 'Cause it's WORTH IT!
