Wish me Luck !
« on: November 29, 2007, 08:33:08 pm »

I finally get to see the dermatologist tomorrow morning ( Friday) about an hour after I get home from work.

He's going to have his work "cut" out for him tomorrow as I am going to have quite a few things taken care of. Especially this 1/2 inch line of warts on the inside on my lower lip. He's going to really have to dig these out tomorrow. Certainly not going to feel like going out to lunch !!

Also have several other areas on my face, that will have to be cut out ( one that may require a couple stitches). I  Have a skin tag, that needs to be removed, I am tired of cutting into this thing everytime I shave  :-\ Also have a mole that needs looking at.

Have a few areas on my legs that can probably just be frozen...

Ed's driving me there in the morning, I imagine i will have a shitload of gauze in between my lip and gums.

It will be messy and painful for a while, I've gone through this before !

Hey Ray,

Sorry about what you are facing. I know, I've been there before myself, except the part about the inside of the lip.

OUCH!

Hang in there and I hope it goes smoothly and as painlessly as possible.

Oh Ray...I'm sorry it has to be done, the anticipation of such procedures is often worse than the procedure itself...After it's over you'll be thrilled that's out of the way...Once they numb the area it's not too bad, I used to have a bunch of molluscum removed from my face, one or two from the eyelid near the lashes that were injected first- OUCH - I hate when that happens!!!

Best wishes guy.

He'll probably use the little freezer gun thingy.
Better to remove skin tags that way than yourself while shaving.

You have likely been putting this off for years maybe.....???......you are going to be so happy with the results. Likely, the needle sticks for numbing the areas are worst than the procedures themselves.

Ray,

I'm hoping the procedure will be as painless as possible.
I had 3 moles removed from my face a few years back, one had to be cut out and I found the the anticipation to be worse than the procedure was.  The lip thingy...OUCH...but I'm sure you will be very numbed up and hopefully have some kind of pain meds for after the numbness wears off.

Wishing you the best!   :-*

Ray,

Good luck with it all.  It sounds scary to me, but your having gone through it before (and still being willing to do it again) makes it sound ... manageable!  Take care and quick healing to you.

Well, I am back from the doctor. So far not too much pain, but the novacaine or whatever he uses to numb me down, hasn't worn off yet.

Actually, I've had quite a few skin problems over these past 25 years. From pre-cancers to basil cell and squamous cell ... Got quite a few scars to show for it.

The problems with the warts, didn't really start, until I started on HAART, and  shortly into 2004. I've always tried to stay on top of these as best I can. Once again I let this go a little too long.

So, this time around, The doctor removed the skin tag, he removed the mole, froze two small area on my leg.

As far as the lip goes, he stuck the needle in 3 times throughout the lip to numb that down, and proceded cutting and scraping, he then used that burning (searing)device. Nothing like the smell of burned skin in the morning  :o He also scraped to small areas on the corners of my mouth
He then wrote me another prescription for Aldara cream, to use on the corners of the mouth at the first sign of trouble. Also made sure to let me know to get in there sooner next time, at first sign of these warts. I have another appointment set up for February.

Ok, got to go now !! The lip is starting to sting and burn !! :-X The numbness is wearing off quite fast now.The lip is also swelling a little more...Time to take a pain pill and go to bed !!

Thanks everyone, Have a great day !!-------Ray

Hey Ray,

I hope this finds you snuggled in your bed, out like a light.

I'm glad that's over and I hope the lip heals quickly. That sounds like the worst of it.

I have had skin tags in the past. The doc has removed them, and once I removed one accidentally while shaving. Not something I recommend.

Hang in there Ray and heal quickly.

HUGS,

Mark

Hope your recovery goes smoothly.  Did your doc have any theories as to why the warts would appear after you started HAART?  I would have thought it would be the opposite?

 8)

Doing absolutely wonderful today ! No pain, the swelling is almost completley gone. We just got back from having a late lunch. I did jab the fork into my lip at lunch today. Bad aim !!  ::)

Ed mentioned to me yesterday that if my upper lip was swollen I would have had Pamela Anderson lips ! :D
Remember those big-ole red wax lips?.....   :)
