cd 4 test

does it matter what time of day you take ,as far as higher or lower? and does it matter much if you feel like a cold is coming on ,should you not take test as it wont be accurate?thanks!

The time of day can affect the results, so it is good to get in the habit of taking the test at roughly the same time for comparability. 

I wouldn't put it off for a cold -- unless you are too miserable to be out in public.

Here in Costa Rica, the hospital will only take CD4 tests from 7-8 am.
Our private lab will take the tests at any time, but they are done fasting.
I am addicted to coffee, so I am on their door at 7 am every time.

Is this a fasting test in other countries?

it's only done fasting if it is in combination with blood lipid tests. interesting

All of the above can affect results, but remember, you are looking for a trend, not just a single set of numbers.

You asked, in another thread, why people don't mention Selzentry often when talking about regimens.

The answer is its use is limited. You must have a specific marker on your CD4 cell for Selzentry to work. Not everyone does.

Also, its not considered a first-line regimen here in the U.S. It is usually reserved for those who having resistance issues, although not always.

and it was sort of a first line for me, i was on the veramune and truvada for three weeks ,then switched due to the rash

Hey surf,

HIV needs to attach to a receptor on the surface of the CD4 cell to be able to enter the CD4 cell and start reproducing itself.  This receptor is called a CCR5 coreceptor, and Maraviroc works by blocking this coreceptor - stopping HIV from entering the CD4 cell.
