She tested positive! I am so frustrated !
« on: July 28, 2006, 12:15:27 pm »
She tested positive on pregnancy test two months ago. Since then I've never been doing well. I have had a few encounters before(all with pay-girl), all fore-play with unprotected oral(them to me) and finished with protected vaginal intercourse.  Back then, I never check the condoms after intercourse, dont know if there any breakage, hole, or slip...etc.

After knowing she got a pregnancy, I had all the symptoms that point to Hiv infection(like nausea, headache, fatigue, tireness, lump in my thorst, numbness of hands and feets, diarrihea, canker in mouth that comes one by one, and many more!!!). Go to the doctor and he prescripted paroxetine, that settle me down a bit but the diarrihea just hits me like hell(3 times a day of watery stool for 1 month!!)

I am in kind of stress, panic, depressed mood now. I am so scared that 3 of us becomes infected(me, my wife and my baby) because of me!!

Not so soon, I think I'll collapes!

GodPlzForgive,

Symptoms are no way to diagnose hiv.  Every symptom you mention could be caused by stress alone, let alone the hundreds of other things that could be responsible for these issues.

And symptoms, if they occur at all, happen 2-4 weeks after infection.  They come all at once, and go all at once a week or so later.

The only way to determine your hiv status is through testing at the appropriate time.

Nothing you have listed is a risk for hiv infection.  Receiving oral sex is no risk.  Protected intercourse is no risk.

While I appreciate your concerns, there are some important gaps in what you are reporting.

To begin with, if your wife has now tested positive and you have been having unprotected intercourse with her, then you need to get tested. As you have already been told your symptoms will not tell you anything accurately about your HIV status.

Your wife's doctor can provide her with the necessary care and treatment to dramatically reduce the risk of your baby being born HIV+. Discuss this with her and make sure that is being addressed properly.

You should now be wearing a condom whenever you and your wife have intercourse. And you should continue to do that in the future. Hopefully you will test negative. If that happens then like many thousands of other couples you will have to become educated about how to get on with your life together in which one partner is HIV+ and the other is not. And that can be done successfully.

If you don't test negative, we can address that if and when it happens.

Please clarify if I am missing somethiing here. Did you wife actually test positive for HIV?

Good luck with your test.

The way I read this thread, his wife tested pos for pregnancy, not hiv.  So....  not sure what to think here.

GodPlzForgive,

Did your wife test positive for hiv, or just pregnancy?

I believe you're correct Morgan.  I think what he's trying to say is that he never used to check condoms for any breakage and so forth and now he's concerned because his wife is now pregnant, as in maybe condoms are not as effective??  At least that's how I understood it.   :-\

Sorry for misleading heading everyone. My wife tested positive on pregnancy, not hiv.

I had a few sex encounters outside my marriage before(unprotected oral, protected vaginal). I scared shitness that i might infected with hiv and passed on to my wife and my baby.

I read the lesson and i understand that unprotected oral had Nil risk = 0 % chance of infection.

How about protected vaginal? Protected vaginal had Nil risk = 0 % chance of infection as well?

Any documented case for proteced vaginal intercourse?

Plz,

Condoms have been proven to be very effective for the prevention of hiv transmission.

There have been long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but not for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one. This shows us two things. One, condoms are very effective for the prevention of hiv transmission. Two, oral sex is much lower risk than previously believed. We now have the evidence that oral sex is a very low risk activity where hiv transmission is concerned.

Ok everyone,

Let put away what I posted and I would like to ask a few questions please.

Please note that i am not challenging everyone, but i am just confused.

As every expects here say that protected vaginal intercourse:

= NO risks
= NO need to test

When I looked up some info from different source like Hong Kong Aids foundation, CDC in China, CDC in Taiwan. They all classified protected vaginal intercourse as a LOW risk acts. I am confused.  After 25 yrs of knowing rounte of transmission, why there is no unique guideline for the worldwide?

Approximate 20,000 new case of infection every day, would that be any exception?(transmiss through protected vaginal intercourse or unprotected oral?)

Plz,

Sometimes organisations list protected intercourse as "low" risk because of the possibility of condom breakage. However, when condoms break, it is obvious - and please ignore the scare-mongering you might come across about "microscopic" holes in condoms. They don't exist.

Condoms have been proven to prevent hiv transmission when used correctly and consistently. Please read my previous post to you and also please read through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use those condoms with confidence.
