T-Cell count dropped
« on: August 24, 2010, 06:57:50 pm »
Went for lab results today, last time when I went exactly four months ago I was at 428.

I have not reached the 400 since I seroconverted so I was very excited about it.

This last month though my life has been more stressful than usual, financial hardship combined with too much work, zero yoga and only a few trips to the gym. Not as much as I usually go. I was drinking a lot of water though and taking my probiotics.

Today I found out that itdropped down to 306.

I try not to pay attention to numbers since I feel good overall but I must admit I was bummed.

Yes, stress does kill you.

I sure know how that feels!

But, although a hundred points looks like a lot, you know they bounce around.  In my first two years it zigzaged constantly, with a difference of almost two hundred between the high and the low.  And yet the yearly average was the same every year, and still has been.

Stress and many other things could have an effect, as you know.  But what can we do?  When doctors say "eliminate stress", I want to ask, "how?"

While you mention yoga, do you find it has much of an effect on you?  Until recently I was doing lots of yoga and felt great about it, except for a constant stream of minor strains to ankles and knees.  But two weeks ago I hurt my knee rather badly doing yoga, and that made me feel I should think carefully before getting back into it.  I was going to classes specifically designed for people with HIV, and some of the postures are supposed to help increase t-cells.

I have also experienced that stress lowers your numbers significantly. I was close to 700 CD4. My recent labs revealed that they have dropped to 450 eww, still undetectable I was tested for everything else I feel fine physically even though past 2 months have been very stressful for me. I'm thinking about going back in 2 months instead of 3 months to have my labs redone and see how my numbers are holding up. Perhaps it was a lab mistake? I know how you feel in the mean time stay positive and try to eat healthy.

Close your legs boo.  Your CD4 not gon' get betta with that one. Try the lotus position; it is just fabulous for dropping one's viral load.

don't forget pozz that time of day plays a part and it might not even be stress

check out the "Why does the CD4 Cells Go Up And Down" thread where we discussed cd4 counts. Time of day can change your counts by double, and sometimes even the worst stress (like the trauma of my partner in a hospital for 60 days before dying) has no effect.

What Mikie said is true.  It might be a normal range for you as well.  (300-500)
