newly diagnosed two weeks ago

The reason  doesn't really matter. My question is the doctor said I had a cd4 count of 89, and for what I've been reading that's not good I have been in atripla for the last week. I also have a lump in my neck to which the doctor gave me antibiotics for. He didn't seem worried now I have a fever of 102.3 but took some Advil and it lowered it down to  99.9 should I go to the hospital.  I got no insurance I never thought this could happen to me and I'm freaking out my boyfriend whom I've been dating for four  years got tested and he is neg. I really don't want to die.  Any advise?

I don't know maybe the lumps an infection causing the fever. If you can't keep your fever down then you should see a doctor. I haven't started medication yet but I don't think I have seen side affects cause a fever. Dose any one know?

 :'(well my boyfriend knows. He also said that If the doctor did not feel the need to send me to the er I should stop worrying.  Btw I also got chest x rays and my lungs are clean. Just a fever at night. Which worries me

Welcome to the forums - you have found a great place for support and advice.  The good news is that you know your status, are getting the proper care, and are going to do well.  Many folks here have had lower cd4 counts than yours and are doing well.  With regard to your fever, I would let your doctor know about it and see if they want you to come in.

Dealing with the diagnosis can be difficult, but please know that it really will get better with time.  There will come a time when you don't even think about it.

Thank you much.  Just took my temp is 99.1 I'm seeing my doctor on Monday. I can't help but freak out you know I told my boyfriend if he wanted to leave he could he said he is standing by me.  I'm genuinely scared though.

Being freaked out is understandable -- I sure was.  If you can identify the specific reasons that you are scared we may be able to help.  The more you learn about the disease the less freaked out you become. 

I went through the same conversation with my wife almost two years ago - and we are still together.  In some ways we are stronger than before, but we have also had some challenges.

Hey Txgirl, welcome, sorry about your dx

Consider some counseling, and quick. Those first few weeks and months are a whirlwind.

Take a deep breath, you will be ok, but you're gonna need your mind right on this. There is so much to learn, and so much of it is going to scare you at first then empower you later. But right now, its mostly going to overwhelm you. There is no rush. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Keep it simple. Take your meds. Everything else usually works out.

Stay focused on what is important right now, your access to meds. You say you don't have insurance. Locate and get yourself into a local ASO. Get a caseworker. Get your virus managed.

You are not about to die.
But you are about to get into a fight. We got your back.
Your job now, get healthy.

Thankfully my dr set me up with a counselor which got me on Medications right away. I got approved for a three month supply my city provides the medication for only $5.00 a month for people in the lower bracket so I'm waiting for approval.  I still feel the same way i felt yesterday but a little more relaxed

Is the counselor a therapist too?  I saw a therapist the first few months and it really helped me.  I am glad you are a little more relaxed - it will take some time but day by day it gets better.

Welcome! I along with others on here are sorry to see you here on one hand at all, but extremely grateful you have found us. I'm a newbie, diagnosed in February, UD last week, as you can see some of us update signature lines with our info, others don't. In case you get lost like I did, UD=undetectable, OP=original poster, DX=diagnosed, WB=western blot those are the basic ones that threw me for a loop when reading. My best advice, don't overwhelm yourself with anxiety and worry. Truly The words HIV are scary, no doubt, but you will find it's not what it once was, and you may even be able to take only 1 pill a day, at any time during the day, and be fine.
When you have questions just ask anyone here, we all if we know it would answer and jump in to give advice. Most of the people here are not doctors, to me their almost better, they've lived with HIV for a very long time. Look at the bright side of things, at least now you know, now you can manage the HIV and not let it manage you.
I'm no expert, but trust me were all here for you.

Well turned out the lump I had was a cousin strain of tb in my neck, which i had to be admitted to the hospital.  thankfully it didn't go to my lungs and after four sputum tests all coming back negative I'm hoping they let me out soon.  ; D
