First Labs In: Advice on Staying Healthy Pre-Meds?
« on: January 30, 2012, 08:12:02 pm »
I got my first labs in today:
CD4: 1040
VL: 9095

I'm not considering medicine right now.  I will evaluate after my next test in 3 months.

However I was wondering what I can do NOW to prepare my body.  Any advice?  One of my big concerns is the damage all of the unnatural chemicals in the meds will do to my body (liver, kidney, etc).  What can I do to offset that before I start?  Any herbs, etc?

What exactly do you mean by "toxins"?

Unnatural chemicals that must be processed by my liver, kidneys, etc.  I edited my post to a better word choice!

I would not focus on some secret herbal remedy for that. What I would do is make sure not to get some kind of hepatitis, be regularly screened for same, not drink like a fish (though moderate intake is quite fine). Stuff like that. Once you're on meds your lab work would hopefully pick up early signs of kidney and/or liver problems.

I've been on meds for almost 20 years and I haven't had those issues. Not to say that they don't exist, but I think one can over worry about it.
