House guests
« on: July 26, 2011, 06:02:58 pm »
I love family coming from out of town.  Not to be a smart ass, I really do.  They started arriving yesterday, more came today from Florida and we're expecting the last ones from Indiana tomorrow.  Then my siblings showed up, they're not guests...lol  These are people who have been married for 50+ years.  I spent the entire day being the house bitch making sure everything is taken care of.  Mrs. Karen is my special hairdresser friend that I paid extra to come take care of my aunties.  She did all their hair for their trip to New York.  I so enjoyed and laughed and we had a great time.  It made me feel great that my aunties tried to pay her but I had already taken care of that portion ahead of time.  My auntie from WVA brought several bushes of veggies that I managed to get canned yesterday.  Don't know why I'm posting all this except I escaped to my room for a few minutes.  Not my real room, I gave my favorite ones my room since I have the master and am taking a guest room.  With this many people in the house, I'm kinda liking my anonymity.  Shit, here they come.

Still don't know why I'm posting about them except they are still up doing karaoke.  Freak, they're old and should be ready for bed before me.  This is the first time I spent a night in my childhood room since I was a teenager.  I remember why I didn't like it.  My walk in closet was bigger in my own home.  But at least I can lay in bed and reach everything. (except the power button for the singing machine).

I'm gonna remind my own mother that those cd's have graven images of her Christ and we must destroy them tomorrow.

LOL...It's 11:00 EST which means they should be on some sort of medication that requires they be in bed.  It doesn't sound like it's any time soon.  These old ass women are healthier than me.  But I love them.  I'm about ready to ask them to move it to the front room.  The dining room is too central and I can sleep to songs praising ......oh never mind.

This morning when I woke up they were all just happily sleeping in that front room and I was so quiet when I was up at 5 making coffee and making little noise.  Tomorrow, I'm gonna fire up the kitchen and cook a big ass breakfast and not understand what the noise problem is.  Their husbands are all in bed.  It's just the hens!  The uncles will appreciate my morning efforts...lol

There's not a one of them who have been married less than 50 years.  My favorites (who I gave my room to) have been married 56 years next month.

I have visions of Truvy's Beauty Shop from Steel Magnolias.  Did your aunts all get "big hair" (as we say in Texas)?  Pictures or it didn't happen!   :D

You are very thoughtful to have done this for your aunts!  And for putting up with your family that long, you are a saint (or possibly crazy).   ;)

Cheers,

Henry

I think they all chose dyke hair styles...lol  They just left for New York for a few days so I can relax until their return.  Definitely will be a white zin evening.  These are pics of my dear Ms. Karen and my aunties.  There's one more, but I forgot to get a pic with her in it.  My mother is the one on the right with the cool eye glass cords.

Absolutely!  I don't take for granted that they'll always be here.  They're all pushing 80 and live so far away and we can never be certain how much time we'll have to spend time together.

Also;  the doiley thing.  When I was forced to move back home, every flat surface had those damn things!  Even the toilet tank!  How nasty is that?  The one on the table is the remaining bane of those un-needed things.  I threw the previous one out and she managed to replace it within a day.
