Need your imput
« on: October 08, 2009, 07:51:10 am »
I have not been on the forums for some time due to other obligations, but, I'm stepping outside the box completely with my illness.  In the spring of 2010 I will start speaking to a class of University students about what is like to live with the stigma of HIV/AIDS. Hopefully this will be a ongoing project. I would like some help on questions I could ask the students.  Such as how do they perceive people who live with HIV/AIDS.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to this endeavor.  Even though I don't hid my HIV, I do tend to keep it covered up. After reading the POZ editors story about how she came out on a cover of a magazine, I felt it was time to share my story with others so to hopefully help them learn that me and others are not different then they are.

It's great that you are going to talk to people about HIV and Aids. That takes great courage.
I have a ton of questions that I would ask them:
1) What do you think a person with HIV/aids looks like?
2) Do you (the student) think that you presently do anything that could lead you to contracting HIV?
3) Do you consider HIV a manageable disease like Diabetes or Asthma?
4) What do you think HIV meds cost?
5) What do you think the final days of an person dieing of HIV/Aids related problems is like.
6) What are you now going to do to prevent yourself from contacting HIV?

1) Is HIV a fatal disease?
2) Is there a cure for HIV?
3) What is the number of HIV+ people in Switzerland?
4) Do you have safe sex, and if not, why not?
