recently had a regular blood test at doc cbc came back ok could i still have hiv,if so what can i take till i get a test done?Have been feeling very anxious he thinks their just my nerves.thanx

You need to clarify a few things. What do you mean by a "regular blood test"? If you only had a CBC, that is not HIV specific and will not give you the answer you're looking for. Only an HIV test can tell you about your HIV status.

If you mean medications, there is nothing to take until you have taken an HIV test and established your HIV status.

Have you any basis for thinking that you might be HIV positive? Any incidents like unprotected intercourse or sharing of intravenous needles? An HIV test should be done at 13 weeks past the most recent risky incident.

off current topic my test came back today it says non reactive does that mean hiv negative is their any possible way i might have it? Had unprotected sex about 16 years ago?any help would be appreciated.

Non-reactive means HIV negative.

You need to pay more careful attention to what people are saying to you. You were never at risk to begin with. As Ann has pointed out, this is really mostly about guilt and anxiety because you went straying for sex outside of your marriage with a guy.

As long as you always use condoms for intercourse (vaginal or anal) if you are with other partners you will be covered as far as HIV is concerned. This was a never an HIV situation. Period. End of story.

First off i want to say thank you Andy you have been a great help. I want to commend all of you for the work on this site and the help you provide total strangers is beyond words.I though i might have this disease because how sick i had been feeling. wish everyone the best  fighting this horrible disease may God bless all of you all. My father had a terminal cancer when i was 15 maybe that adds to my paranoya about being sick anyway thanks again .andy for the record i'm a lady's man...

The window period for hiv testing is three months. If the last time you had unprotected intercourse was sixteen years ago, then you can consider yourself well and truly hiv negative. Make sure you stay hiv negative by using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently. Read through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them with confidence.
