A couple of questions
« on: July 10, 2007, 06:03:19 pm »
Hi,

I have a couple of question: I recently had an encounter - there was some mutual masturbation, I may have got some semen/precum on my hand. The only thing that bothered me is I think I rubbed my eye, and I have a sty at the moment on my eye. I think I'm being paranoid but it's no risk, still, right?

I also gave brief oral, no cum - possibly some precum but I'm not really as concerned about that as I've read at several sites that precum itself isn't really a risk. The gist I have is that as long as I don't have bleeding gums or an open wound when someone actually ejaculates (which I'd certainly avoid anyway) that there's no real cause for concern - right?

OK thanks a lot for your answer anniebc! One more question, and I'm sure I know the answer but I just want to get it clear in my head and move on so I hope you don't mind - I also had a couple of what I think are mosquito bites - about the size of a fingernail; if fluid got on to them, it wouldn't be a risk would it? What I understand is that any risk would have to involve something fresh and deep with direct access to the blood.

Hi again, last question, I promise!

-- Fingering is never a risk, am I right? Even if you get anal fluid and have a bit of a cut on your finger? Another site freaked me out a bit by describing it as a theoretical risk, but in their same comment, the doctor said that it's 'not a recognized route of transmission' which makes no sense to me - if it was really possible, then it would be a recognized route, surely.

The bottom line I'm getting from this forum is that in the real world, you can engage in non-penetrative acts like frottage, docking, rimming, fingering and everything else and basically have no worries as long as you wear a condom for intercourse. Is that right? I think it's so much better to focus on how it really occurs than all the little theoreticals, because it's those things that mess with the mind.

Haha, ok, does the silence mean \'you already know the answer, none of those things are a risk now stop being crazy?\'.

I would still just like to clarify and then I won\'t ask again --

-- Acts such as receiving oral sex and fingering are zero risk, yes - regardless of the what ifs and the spins. What if I have a little cut with a bit of blood on my penis head, or my finger, etc.

Have you had a risk? If not, then move on.

Well, that's what I'm clarifying; when you say 'have you had a risk' are you referencing what I'm talking about or have I had unprotected anal, etc. (I've only had intercourse once and that was with a condom). What I'm asking is is receiving oral with a minor cut (i.e. not actively bleeding but you might be able to see a bit of blood) a risk and is fingering with anal fluid on your finger and the same scenario in regards to the cut a risk.

I didn't think they were but I wanted confirmation. If those are not risks, then I'll be only too happy to move on.

That's right. Variations on fingering and such, including with scratches, sores and such are not a risk for transmission. Unprotected intercourse is the big issue so keep those condoms handy for both vaginal and anal intercourse.

Cheers,

Thanks Andy, I appreciate it. Does the same go for receiving oral?

I am aware that the blood necessary would have to be gagging amounts, but in terms of nicks, minor cut, etc. - it doesn't make any difference? I'm thinking that it wouldn't because I don't believe there's been any transmission that way ever and there must be people getting head with nicks, etc.

There's never been a single case confirmed of HIV transmission from getting a blowjob. And you won't make history by becoming the first. Really.
