Wondering but Very Scared
« on: July 17, 2006, 11:13:50 am »
First of all thank you for your time and reply.

7/8/2006 - I was little drunk & had Sex with Sex Worker. SHE put Condom on me first by her mouth and the total duration of the whole Play was approx 2-3 minutes. No Kissing OR anything was done but I touch her private area by finger for about 40-60 second.

Now, since day before yesterday - I feel drwosy, little sour throt and after SHOWER my hand has 1 or 2 little Red Color Rashes and feels itchy and in few min red color disappear. I do not see any rashes but itchy on my back and area below my knee.

I am very scared. Please help.

abcd,

You did not have a risk of hiv infection. Condoms have been proven to be very effective when it comes to preventing hiv transmission. Remember to use them no matter who you are with and you will avoid hiv infection.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence. Please also read the Welcome Thread and follow the links for further hiv information.

While you don't need to test over your experience with a sex worker, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

You had no risk.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Thank you Ann for your reply. When do you think I should go for testing?

abcd,

For a conclusive result, you need to test 12-13 weeks after your last unprotected act of intercourse.

BUT, if I am reading you correctly you had a condom on during intercourse. Which means you do not need to get tested in relation to this incident.

You only need to get tested if you have had unprotected intercourse.

What is a warning red flag in this situation is that you say you were drunk. Mixing sex and excessive drinking is a very dangerous combination and something that puts you at risk of  making bad decisions. Avoid that in the future.

If you have troubling symptoms you should discuss them with your doctor. This is not an HIV situation.

Cheers,
Andy Velez
