No, it's treatable (but cannot with current interventions be eliminated from the body) - matt

It may never be too late, but the more damage the virus has done to your immune system the harder it is for your immune system to recover.  Current thinking, based on several years use of current treatments (combinaton therapy) says that starting with a CD4 count no lower than 200 is best.  The nasty opportunistic infections happen when your CD4 is below this level, and these can do you in sooner than HIV.  Untreated, in the end, the virus will get you cos it gets to the brain, but I know people who started with CD4 counts of 10 plus biggie cancers, pneumonia etc who are alive, well, fit and happy today.

Please read the lessons and the Welcome Thread at the top of this forum.

Everyone has stretch marks to some degree, not everyone has HIV.  Stretch marks and HIV have more in common than Bush and Saddam Hussein.

Seriously, no question is stupid, but do take the opportunity to educate yourself.

jeff,

I've removed your thread from the Treatment forum where you posted yesterday and merged it with your thread here in the Am I forum. The other forums (aside from Off Topic) are for hiv positive people or their families or caregivers only. Please don't let me find you posting in the other forums again. Post any further questions or comments in this thread.

I gather you are worried about something that happened six years ago. You need to know that symptoms or even the lack of symptoms will never tell you your hiv status. Only the appropriate test at the appropriate time will.

And by the way, the ONLY thing stretch marks are a symptom of is weight loss and/or gain. The have NOTHING to do with hiv.

You can test three months after your last incident of unprotected intercourse for a reliable, conclusive result. If you've not had unprotected intercourse, chances are you have been worrying for six years over nothing.

Stop playing these self-diagnostic guessing games and get tested and get it over with. Six years is far too long to be carrying this worry around with you.
