« on: October 19, 2006, 01:30:01 pm »
iv been on kaletra and truvada since july. about two weeks into it i got a terrible rash on my stomach and my lower back. the doc gave me something called 'triamcinolone' and the rash went away. i also used calamine lotion to stop the itching. now four months in2 it the rash is back almost as bad as the first time. the triamcinolone and calamine lotion does not appear to be working this time and the itching is almost unbearable. the doc dosnt seem to be to concerned about rashes but what iv read on here there pretty serious. any suggestions on the best steroid cream to resolve this problem? the doc is outa town for a week.....imagine that.

scott,

if the cream is not working, i would suggest you try taking an oral antihistamine, something like benadryl tablets/liquid for a few days and see if this helps. The rash may be unrelated to your meds, but if things don't improve, get in touch with your dr.

Triamcinolone is a good product for many of the skin eruptions, e.g., rosacea, eczema, etc. caused by HIV and/or the medicinal side-effects.  But a word of caution, DON"T use this cream and expose yourself to the sun.  Results: severe sunburn and potential scarring!
Due to current economic conditions, the light at the end of the tunnel has been temporarily turned off!
