Hi guys,

I am going to get tested on Monday, a little bit more than 10 weeks since my last exposure.  I know it is not the 3 month magic number, but I need to know.  I plan to get a Oral Quick test, it is going to be the 20 longest minutes in my life.

I had sex for the wrong reasons (recent break-up) and I can probably check off every single one of the ARS symptoms (and some lingering ones) and other STDs.  However, what keeps me positive is that I did have protected vaginal sex (but receiving oral un-protected).  At this moment, I am going through a period of doubt right now; concerned that the condom broke and I did not notice, concerned that the condom that she gave was faulty or a lambskin condom (I have never seen one), or concerned that I did not put the condom on right.  I am even concerned I am that 0.1% that condom manufactures keep talking about.  I can give you arguments that these are all false concerns, but fear makes you think funny things. 

I really do not have any questions.  You guys did great job in educating me.  I can already see Andy telling that I do not need to worry, Rapidrod giving me a quick one-liner, and Ann breaking it down for me.  At this point, reassurances and well wishes are appreciated.  Thanks!

You never had an exposure and don't need testing for HIV.

If the condom had broken, believe me, you would have noticed. It's not about tiny holes or tears, it's more like a broken balloon.

The woman would not have given you a lambskin condom - they're really expensive and nobody in their right mind would buy them when there are MUCH cheaper alternatives available.

You would have noticed something different about it anyway - they're not clear like regular condoms nor do they feel anything like regular condoms. They're really different - and yes, I've seen and held one myself, although I've never used one for a sex act. It's like comparing a calf-skin leather glove to a stretchy, latex disposable glove. Way different.

As you seem to know my posting style, I'll assume you've already read my bit about how to protect yourself. I hope you have already taken my advice and read through the condom and lube links in my signature line. If you haven't, get reading. They're not there for looks, you know.

In fact, I've been to the actual shop in Amsterdam linked to in the Condoms are a Girl's Best Friend link - and that's where I got to find out what a lambskin condom looks and feels like. Check the link out - there's more information about condoms there than you ever thought existed.

I fully expect you to test hiv negative. You should get a full sexual health check up while you're at it - it's what responsible sexually active adults do at least once a year.
