Movie - A SINGLE MAN
« on: February 07, 2010, 07:38:08 pm »
We seen about everything out there so took a chance on seeing this Sunday (yep! no superbowl for me no way no how  ;)  )

A Single Man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aypyJtHzC70

What a great 1960's-ish based Gay film. It looked depressing and on the weird side from the trailer, but it actually is very good. I didn't expect much, but this turned out to be one of the best gay-theme films i've seen in a long while. Great cast, great acting, great plot. One of those films that just takes you in and
you are glued. Some nice flesh scenes too. Visually stunning. Incredible plot. A thinking film.
Highly "very" highly recommended.

A Single Man, the book by Christopher Isherwood is really beautiful.
So much in fact that I dread going to see the movie, the reviews are good for Collin Firth and Julianne Moore , though.

There's a bit too much of self-conscious camerawork for my taste. But that's a minor quibble in the face such emotionally true performances from Colin Firth, Matthew Goode and Julianne Moore and the rest of the cast. The best of the movie is really fine and shouldn't be missed.
