hello

i am new to this so do not no if i am posting my question/problem in the right section.

ok, so i think that i might have contracted hiv. i have a lot of similar symptoms and to say im worried is an understatment, i have never lived with such fear the last few weeks.
4/5 weeks ago i was with a female sex worker, we had protected sex but the oral she preformed on me was not, i know chances of recieving hiv from oral is low but here is my problem, during the encounter she took off the condom and put her fingers inside the condom and then put her fingers (still inside the condom) into my anus, this lasted around 30secs. im just so worried that her vaginal fluid that was on the condom then inserted into my anus has infected me with hiv.
since the encounter i experienced symptoms in the 2-4 week period. first was a few spots and small rash on my pubic area that were very itchy and had some pain almost throbbing like feeling in my genitals, i assumed i had herpes and went to a std clinic where they took swabs but no bloods, they will take bloods when i go back to recieve the other results. Hiv didnt cross my mind untill a few days later when i woke up to find i had a rash that started on my thighs and spread all around my body and swollen glands in my groin area, other symptoms include light diarhea that didnt last long, tho my stool also seemed to be a dark green colour, also my mouth has been very dry and my tongue is white with some red dots on it, i felt nausea for a day or 2, loss of appetite, very sore joints like my knees and finger joints and also my ears get red hot.
im so worried and nervous and just need some help and advice please

Hi John . You did not have a risk . I read your concerns and none of them are a risk for HIV .

HIV is acquired sexually from unprotected vaginal or anal sex . HIV is fragile and easily damaged by Saliva and changes in temperature and PH levels , those things render HIV unable to in infect . You had protected vaginal sex so the other things were not a risk so therefor you didn't expose yourself to HIV .

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT FURTHER HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

hi jeff
thanks for the reply, gave me some comfort, but naturally i am still worried and still have some questions.
i no u dont deal with symptoms ( having read other posts ) but im just so paranoid abecause they showed up in the time frame and it cant be more than a coincidence. is there any possibility that i become infected by the anal fingering with the condom, because there would definitely have been vaginal fluid on it. yes you said it would have been damaged once it hit the air but is it possible some of it survived and then she inserted me? or do you think i am 100% in the clear??

I'm quite sure you didn't have a risk . I'm HIV positive and I do not want that to happen to you , so if I thought you had even a tiny Little risk I would be telling you to test in hopes that if the awful truth was you did test poz we could get you hooked up and into treatment . I wouldn't want you thinking you were HIV negative and endangering your own health and others as well . We do this to save lives and we cant save lives if we don't deal in science and truth .

yes i understand. its just my emtional state has been terrible since i started to get some symptoms. i just keep thinking what if. like yes the infection can be damaged
once it hits the air, but what if some survived and then it was passed onto me once she inserted me with the condom that definitely had her vaginal fluid on it because it had just literally been inside of her. like what if she was recently infected aswell so she might have had high concentrates in the infection in her system.
i just cant get over the symptoms, since they appeared i have been freaking out, everything seems just to be going against me, the symptoms the time frame the fact i was with a sw. im just broken at the moment, sorry if im repeating myself.

If you cant except the fact that you do not have HIV then the only other thing I can advise is to get some counseling so you can move on . There is nothing more we can do if you do not believe the science behind the advise we are providing . I'm wishing you the best of luck .
