What do these numbers mean?
« on: April 28, 2009, 06:55:16 pm »
I'm assuming it's a pretty bad sign.

Before the new year, I had a CD4 of 274 and a viral load of about 25000.  I started atripla jan 2.  After a month or so, my cd4 was 429 and the viral load was 678.  I had blood drawn about a month ago, and had a doctor's appt tomorrow for results, etc.  They called and said results from one test were not in.  They're doing a genotype which was not done before.  My cd4 was 431, vl 1510.  I'll go in when the genotype results are back.  They did not tell me to cease taking atripla or anything like that.  Is there variability in vl and this may just be okay, or is it most likely resistance.

I've not missed any dose, all have been taken between 930 and 1030 at night.  At the time of the blood draw, I was relatively highly stressed at work and had been for a couple of weeks (if that's likely to have anything to do with anything.)  I feel just dandy.

Thanks for any feedback.

Dabo, I wouldn't worry.  Stress definitely causes blips in bloodwork.  Your CD4 is going up, your viral load is still down from 25000.  To define resistance, you have to look at a trend in bloodwork over time (about 3 or 4 draws).  But, I wouldn't sweat the latest test.  Most likely, all's still well.
