B12 again
« on: September 05, 2011, 08:55:50 am »
Recently sat in seminar by a long term HIV educator who brought research saying the B12 tests are not reliable, according to a study by Dr. Solomon at Yale, 2005.  Was backed up by several others.  I've been dealing with fatigue, sleep problems, cognitive problems and a few other things for about 4 years.  None of my doctors previously have been able to correct this.  I'm on testosterone which seems to be helping some (I'm more interested in looking at men than usual). This educator suggests ultra high doses of B12 (preferably subcutaneous) daily until symptoms subside.  B12 is not toxic and apparently hundreds of other HIV'ers have had tremendous success. Must be taken with folate to work properly.

My doc is giving me some grief about doing this and I just left 36 pages of research at her office.

Anyone else heard of this or done this?

I have been low on every B12 test I have ever had so I get monthly shots.  Sometimes I wonder if it should be more often.  It does seem to help with energy.  I am always tired but I have learned I just have to force myself to do things or I won't do them such as going for a job on the treadmill tho always feel better after having done it.  Let me know if you find out anything else about the ultra high doses of B12 daily.  I will mention to my Dr.
