Anniversary
« on: July 11, 2011, 08:16:27 pm »
I just found out today the actual day of my AIDS diagnosis.  I have always thought it was 1990 but I asked my mother this morning if she remembered approximately what day in July 1990 it was.  She promptly answered without hesitation that it was July 10, 1991.  July 10th is also the same day I got out of the hospital in 2009 with the Cryptococcus.

Is white zin the appropriate 20th anniversary gift?  Now, if I could just figure out who that hotty was back in the summer of 86, I'd have all the pieces of the puzzle completed.  It was one hell of a 21st birthday present that I think about almost every day....lol

Thanks.  I'm starting to question her short term memory though.  I really don't believe my last hospitalization for crypto was in July.  I remember laying in front of the fireplace wrapped in blankets as I was freezing to death and I'm pretty sure we've never used the fireplace in July.

I'm not quite sure why I'm suddenly concerned with knowing my timelines?

Then again, I was so out of it maybe the fireplace wasn't even lit.

It appears that either China or platinum is the gift of choice for 20 years.  Given that you have survived for 20 years, I think you can give yourself whatever you damn well want to celebrate.  Congratulations and here's to many, many more.

Now, dear, you know the only true way to celebrate such an occasion is with a single malt scotch.

I do cheat, though. As an American, I like mine over ice.

Happy anniversary.

I don't drink anything scotch, I had a bad episode with it.  In the mid 80,'s some lady got me drunk on it and took advantage of me.   ;D

Besides, that's too masculine (even for me).

I don't know why you had to post that.  I graduated from college in 1991 and your detailed timeline discussion screws with my state of denial that it could possibly have been 20 years ago - LOL.  Seriously, Congratulations and celebrate!  You can save the single malt scotch for your 30th anniversary (minus any woman wanting to have her way with you  :-)

That very much is true.  The first time I ever drank Scotch and my first blackout.  I don't recall it all, but I must have been somewhat willing.  The morning was very awkward.

Scotch is like truth serum for me.  I have to watch out who I am around when I drink that stuff because I start telling it like it is and that has gotten me in trouble... but not the kind Wolfie described.  More like public disclosure of private information.... not a good idea.

Is this when you're open to receiving "hush money"?

I doubt anything short of gagging me would cause me to hush at that point.  I know to stop after 2 scotch on the rocks these days.  That was a lesson I learned when I was in my 20s.
