I was thinking about the same thing earlier today, about 6 weeks and then we are into Autumn. Yikes!....Not sure if I am ready to see summer come to an end, but I will be going to a few county fairs and then the state fair here in Oregon to see some concerts.

Hey Randy, I'll be at the Iowa State Fair next weekend. First visit. Any booths, sights you recommend? Jay

I love State Fairs!  Haven't been to one in years though....ours is not until either Sept. or Oct.

Do they still have those creepy midway shows?  Like the mongoloid babies and girl who turns into a gorilla?   I loved those as a kid...my favorite was Myrtle the Turtle girl....

Not in a long time, till last year they had one with two headed this and three leg that. So I went in and it was mostly pictures. They did have a three (or was it 5) leg horse. This poor thing was lying in all this smelly dirt. It was sad so I hope they dont have it this year. They should be closed down.

We always go to the Pa State Farm show every year. See all the animals, eat the yummy treats, and of course look at the butter sculpture.

Oh god, if they have an actual live animal on display with two heads or three/five legs, I will be ill. It's bad enough knowing all those pretty cows and poultry are soon going to be eaten.

Thanks for posting links to your local state fairs. Keep it up.

I remember when I was a little kid. We went into one of those freak shows for a 3 leg man. Some skinny guy had, what looked like, a fake plastic leg glued to his stomach. Naturally, he was not able to move it.

My loud mouth friends were yelling "hey, want to see my third leg".  :D

I'd like to know how the butter cow got started. Maybe some farm lady that made or churned way too much butter one day and thought "what am I going to do with all this butter?".

I think she was smoking something she found in the field???
