Title: Convincing symptoms hELP
Post by: Turkey87 on February 24, 2012, 01:34:19 pm
Hi all,
5 weeks ago I made a drunken stupid mistake by having sex with a prostitute in a 3 world country which has a very high HIV rate. I used a condom which she provided and I believe it didn't break but I was so out of it I'm not sure. I noticed a white discharge from her vagina on the condom when I finished. I did have a number of cuts on my fingers which were fresh and I fingered her at the time. Around 9
Days ago I developed the following symptoms; sore throat, white fury tounge, night sweats, fever, sore neck, headache, swallon glands under arm pits, fatigue, nausea, loss of apetite and no sex drive. I have been extremely anxious and feel this exacerbates my symptoms. I am convinced that I will test positive when my results are back in 48hrs. Adding to this stress I keep googling symptoms and obsessing over the possibility. Even if anxiety has caused a portion of my symptoms the physical signs such as white tounge swallen glands speak for themselves. My dr dismissed my
Concerns and said I should just take antibiotics. I have also been taking anxiety meds after the symptoms started which may add to feeling sick. Just writing This Has relieved stress so please Reply with anything. Thanks for your
Time

You used a condom for penetrative sex. This protected you from HIV.

Fingering, cuts or not, is NO RISK for HIV infection.

This incident as reported/described is absolutely NOT an HIV event.

Yeah I understand the low risk of using a condom however I also caught chlamydia from the same exposure, I forgot to put that down. With that knowledge and my symptoms it looks seriously grim for me!

How come? You can get chlamydia, which is a robust BACTERIAL infection, despite the correct use of a condom.

Unlike Chlamydia and other STDs, HIV requires very specific conditions in order to infect very specific types of cells.  You had absolutely NO risk for HIV.

You mention using a condom makes HIV "low" risk. If it is used correctly, it provides as close to absolute protection as modern science can allow. You simply do not get HIV when having penetrative sex with a condom. Period.

Thanks for the info. I just had my test results back. Blood test at 34 days. I know you're meant to wait 3 months but do u think the accuracy of a test at 34 days could be reasonably accurate?
