Bad Monday
« on: December 19, 2006, 07:25:34 am »
Monday was one of those days.

The local doc, who is also my doc, informed me one of my clients died Saturday. He died peacefully in his sleep. For that I am grateful. At least he is not in pain any longer.

Shortly thereafter, another client came to me, showed me his slit wrists and said he thinks he needs to talk to someone.

All in all, not one of my better days.

There are times I feel woefully inadequate, and yesterday was one of them.

Sorry for the downer. I just needed to vent.

HUGS,

Mark

Mark,
You are not inadequate. You helped to save the person's life who slashed his wrists. He was seeking help, and he knew he could count on you to provide that for him. That is extraordinary.

It always amazes me the ripple effect that one soul has on another. Imagine if you were not there to listen to this person, and he decided to take his life. His family would be suffering unspoken amounts during the Holiday season, friends would be in mourning.

You did a great job.

Christine

Mark

I've said this to you so many times before but I think it bears repeating.  I could never do what you do.  Your such an amazing and understanding man I doubt there is a case manager anywhere who could be above you.

Be kind to yourself and try to remember the wonderful help you provide to so many on a daily basis.

Wishing you the best and warm hugs,

RAB

How can a man with such a purpose in life be inadequate? Far from it. I'm glad yesterday's past for you, and hope another " Bad Monday" doesn't come for a long long time!

Hey Mark.  I am sorry that I missed your Monday post (it now being Tuesday).  I hope that things are better for you emotionally today.  It's always bad timing, isn't it, to get real news injected just as the news outside is all rosey cheeks and smiling faces.  A harsh reminder that the approach of the holidays doesn't impact large areas of our lives, the people we work with (in human services).  Win

Hey all,

Thanks so much for the support. It means a lot to me. Today was better. I think I have things set up for the person who needed help, which is what I was most worried about.

Monday was rather a "double whammy" day. Gratefully they don't happen too often.

Again, thank you all.

HUGS,

Mark

Hey Mark...

It is GOOD to hear from you. Indeed that was a "double whammy" of a situation. In fact, it can, may or will be a challenging situation. It is GOOD to hear that you were able to set up the HELP that was needed for the other gentleman. As we both know it, there are some good days and some bad days. However, not all days are bad.

Sending you some GOOD positive energy and thoughts your way. Take care of YOU!
