Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Wanted to confirm about tests

Dear All,
           Thanks for all of you here, all of you are wonderful and are doing a great job, I have been reading a few threads and it helped me a lot. I just wanted to see if my case warrants any further test. I am a male - 25 years old, I am not on any medications or drugs till today. I have had unprotected vaginal sex with a woman of unknown status (she claimed to be HIV negative afterwards saying that gets tested every 3 months), on the following days, April 15th '06, June 14th '06 and protected vaginal sex with the same woman on July 11th '06, no condom breakages. I got myself tested using the homeaccess hiv-1 test (ELISA) on dates June 29th '06 and on September 29th '06. The last test was about 15 weeks from the last unprotected sex I had. All these tests turned out to be negative. Further more I am not sure if I have or had any symptoms, I honestly cannot make out if I had symptoms or not, its so confusing with the symptoms, all I can say is I never had a fever after the incidents. I cannot make out if my lymph nodes are swollen and if I have any white spots and rash. I had a few sore throats after incident but I smoke and its kind of cold these days, so cannot make out if this is because of the virus or just from my smoking. Can anyone please kindly let me know if my case needs any further testing. I got the feeling that it does'nt from what I have read in the previous threads but I want to just confirm and get myself over this and move on.  Thanks a lot for your help.

You stated your last test was 15 weeks past your last unprotected sex and you received a negative result. You are conclusively HIV NEGATIVE.

Hello everyone, just wanted to ask one or two quick questions, I wanted to know whether there are any tests like homeaccess for HIV2 that can be done anonymously. Since homeaccess tests are only for HIV1 I just wanted to get tested for HIV2 too and move on. I know that HIV2 is there in US but just to feel better, based on my case do you guys think that there is a scope of HIV2 infection? Once again I have not experienced any ARS sypmtops or I guess I could have had them and not known, they are all so confusing. Once again thanks a lot for the wonderful job.

Sorry a few typos  "I know that HIV2 is there in US" should read as "I know that HIV2 is rare in US" and by like homeaccess I meant something where I can collect the sample and ship. I do not have enough courage to go to the testing center. Thanks and sorry for bothering too much.

As you already know, HIV-2 is extremely rare in the US. The test you took would have picked up HIV-2 if it had been present as would most tests in use today.

You don't have to be any further concerned about HIV in relation to the incident which you brought you here. Just keep using a condom everytime for intercourse. If you're sexually active it's a good idea to have a full STD panel done regularly -- at least annually and every six months is even better. Other STDs are much easier to get than HIV.

You do not have an HIV issue. Get on with your life.
