I've always hated wearing long pants so I stretch shorts weather out as long as I possibly can.

Last night it was just a little cool to be wearing shorts - guess I'll have to start wearing jeans again.

It's definitely starting to feel like fall.  It's been foggy and misty in the morning, fog usually burns off by 1 then it's sunny for the afternoon.  Best of both worlds.

I'd rather wear a light jacket than sweat it out in near 100F and humid weather. Thanks, but no.

Totally agree with this.  It is only 66F here in Hoosierville at present, after it being 97F 3 days ago.  It's supposed to be 39F overnight.

It is nice to be able to go outside and not be hit in the face with humidity.  Got to turn off the a/c and open the windows.  Put a fan in the window and had to turn it off, as it got down into the 40's here last night.  It's about 70 degrees here now.

We were going to go today and look for an outdoor propane heater, that isn't too expensive.  I've seen some that look like real ones with logs, instead of those kind you see at restaurants.

Same here on the shorts. It's that transition time that is SO disappointing. Had to put on my long pants today and had to wear a sweater last night.

I actually love this weather. I'd much rather wear jeans every day than a pair of shorts. Same with boots vs. flip flops and sweaters vs. t-shirts.

Oh, and need I mention a leather jacket?

We're having frost warnings again tonight in the Poconos. And down to 47F in the city which will be the coolest overnight low thus far.

We have seen some mid 50 nights here but all in all it was a very strange summer with lower than normal temps and more rain than I can ever remember . Jan asked me more than a few times if the weather was typical , it isn't . We had blinding rain storms several times a day and weeks of almost constant drizzle . The plus side is my yard that I damaged with too much weed and feed a few years ago is almost back to where it was before .

Autumn officially begins on Sunday, and it seems that today (Friday) and Saturday may be the last time until next summer that we reach 80F or above.

I promise myself to plant the bulbs during these Indian Summer Days.  Last few years I have waited, disorganised, and any free day to do it in October was rainy, and then in November, so cold!  I think they like to get some roots down while its still mild.

We're having absolutely glorious weather.  Wearing slacks again, first time since Spring.  Down in the 40's at night is awesome sleeping weather.

I will be bitching within a few weeks when I spend enormous amounts of time raking all these damn leaves.

I cant rake leaves anymore , its too painful . I use a mulching mower to chop them up , it works great . I did get some odd looks from neighbors when I started doing it that way but some of them are doing to now .

I don't rake either-my landlord's yard employees do that.

I love sleeping in this cool weather-41F last night.  However, with menopause, I've been waking up in the middle of the night, soaked in sweat (reminder anyone).  And that, my friends, is miserable. >:(

I used to pay the neighbor boys $5 to rake, but they've grown up now and realize I've been jipping them all these years so they've raised their rates to $50 which is a lot since I really only have 1 tree now.

Honestly, you should be ashamed. I got more for raking leaves than $5 back in 1975. Guys like you should be sterilized.

And seriously -- one tree in a yard? I bet your lawn basically consists of weeds and your shrubs look like a dog with mange.

That would work if our entire yard wasn't covered with these damn swamps maples.  Luckily, I managed to get one cut down so hopefully it won't take as long this year.

2 years ago, I spent 2 entire days getting ready for Winter.  Bagging and cleaning and totally exhausted.  I came into shower after obtaining a beautiful, leaf free yard.  My idiot neighbor behind me saw me working my ass off to get rid of the debris.

I happened to glance out the window and he was using a leaf blower, blowing his leaves under our shared fence into our yard.  I became enraged and promptly returned the favor.  It was like a battle of blowers.  :)

Boy it's been amazing weather! While we have not been having unusual heat, we also have not had many cold nights. Tomato season lives on! Picked another 20 big ones in the past 6 days with more to come. We do live about 7 miles south of a closed nuclear plant with spent fuel buried in casks so maybe the residual heat and radiation might be playing a factor here?

10 day forecast? sunny. highs in the 70's. lows in the 50's and 60's. I'm sure we will pay for it soon.

Anyway, the leaves seem to be turning early. Maybe due to such a dry September.

Wanted to share a couple of pics of the Korean Dogwood in our front yard. They produce neat looking fruits about an inch in diameter. Beautiful day AND night. :)

PS- Hurricane season is running out of time. Hope we all stay lucky this year.

I thought October was suppose to be our driest month, but I'm gonna have to build an ark.  We got 5 inches of rain last week.  Now, we are getting hit hard again.  My udometer (rain gauge for those who didn't google the actual name like I did) was tippy top full.  Since Friday evening, we've gotten 8 inches here at our house.  Suppose to get up to 3 more through Monday.  The pond is overflowing.  I'm wondering whether I need to pull water out.  The fish are literally level with the ground.  I'm worried they may come out.

Geez Tedderz, all the technical jargon makes your posts difficult to read.

But to show you all that my South Texas yard can in fact sustain life I present to you my Honeysuckle Bush...the smell is amazing in the mornings when I walk out, and since it is only 65 right now I have the windows open so I can get the aroma in the house :)

Is that faux-stonework made of fiberglass?

Could have fooled me about fall. Just returned from the east coast, absolutely gorgeous weather. Visited my Mom and a couple of siblings in Vermont and New Hampshire where the weather was 70-75 during the day and 40ish at night. Perfect weather. Spent four days on the Vineyard and again perfect weather. Helped my brother put up the framing for a post and beam guest house, scalloped (nasty) mopeded around and acted like little kids. Got back to San Diego and yesterday it was 91 downtown! Heading to the beach today!

It's peak foliage season here in Connecticut. These pics were taken just after sunset.

That's really pretty.

Not all that exciting but I snapped the shots a mere 20 feet from our front door. I gotta get out in the next few days to get better shots before the landscape turns to gray.

We had a high of 68 here in South Texas. Tonight we are going to the 40's!!!! Brrrrr. I'm not turning the heater on yet, but i'm definitely getting the winter blanket out for tonight. I'm putting a heating pad on low at the foot of my bed for my MattyMatt.
