After all the depressing news on the lack of progress in the health care debate in Congress it was such a breath of fresh air to hear Democratic Congressman Alan Grayson's amazing speeches on the floor of the House ("The Republican health care plan is this: 'Don't get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly.'").
As a registered Democrat I was hoping one of these guys or gals would grow a pair and quit pandering to the Republicans who are not going to vote for meaningful reform anyway (surprise!)
I've never given money to any candidate but I will do so now because I think it's vital to show support for Alan Grayson for what he has done. There is a true grassroots effort doing just that. Even if it's just a $5. donation, please consider showing strength in numbers by supporting what this man is doing which will have serious impact in whether all of us in this country, especially those of us with chronic conditions, finally receive affordable quality health care!

DISCLAIMER: I am not in any way affiliated with Grayson, I'm just a person living with HIV who is very concerned about the direction of the health care debate and think it's imperative to support this man who is the first person in congress who has cut through all the CRAP

This isn't all there is about Grayson either. Previous to his series of well meaning outbursts he's been very instrumental, both currently and previous to his recent election to the House, in prosecuting war profiteering by the likes of Halliburton. I first read about him in a 2007 Vanity Fair article that you can find by doing a word search for Grayson in their archives.

The Republicans are already planning a fight to beat him in the next election and get him out of Congress. There's an organization, forget which, that said he is the 4th most vulnerable Democrat in Congress.
It's very important to support Alan Grayson. After his speeches on health care, donations went up on his website. It's not important how much someone gives but what is important is to show strength in numbers and let him and the rest of the nation know that there are voters out there who support what he is saying about health care. That there's a true grassroots movement out there who agree with what Grayson is saying about health care.
Needless to say this is an issue that directly affects anyone with HIV, we need Alan Grayson to continue to fight the fight on our behalf.

Alan Grayson: A Democratic star is born
With Alan Grayson a Democratic star is born. Grayson has been electrifying Democrats with powerful words and strong condemnation of the GOP. U.S. Rep. Grayson, Democrat from Florida, has taken the nation by storm, and is now an important voice in the debate on health care reform and the newest master of the media sound bite.
Grayson, an unknown freshman congressman only a month ago, energized the Democratic base and infuriated Republicans when, while on the House floor, he claimed the Republicans' health care plan amounts to "Don't get sick. And if you do get sick, die quickly."
This weekend Grayson told an energized and excited crowd of about 2,000 Democrats that the GOP should change its name to "The Selfish Party." The event was the Florida Democratic Party's annual convention, an event that was transformed and energized by Grayson's presence.
Grayson is an exciting new figure, picking up Democratic slack in the health care debate. Democrats have been too nice, and it is refreshing to see Grayson take the gloves off and call the Republicans out on their obstruction, misinformation and dereliction of duty.

With elections looming today, and the outcome will redirect the healthcare path,
it will be interesting if republicans do good, they will claim Obama and
liberal democrats are doomed.
If republicans do not do so good, they will write it off as a small election not to mean much.
