Suggestion, and how *NOT* to make a pinacolada smoothie
« on: December 30, 2006, 06:46:43 pm »
Thought to myself...how hard can this be?  Just throw some organic pineapples and organic coconut milk in a blender with ice.  It's disgusting.  Oy.  They must dump a lot of sugar in the real thing.  Made it tolerable with cane sugar-ified lemon juice (I don't keep sugar in the house)

MODS:  Maybe there should be a separate forum for nutritional things like smoothies, recipes, etc. that doesn't archive or something.  Wouldn't be hard to do and would be nice to have.  Only been on here a week but seems like its something ppl would be interested in and benefit from.

Doug,

We already have a nutrition forum - you posted your thread in it. :)

Feel free to start a smoothies recipes thread. You can keep it current by posting new recipes a couple times a month.

Bottoms up!

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

I wouldn't mind a thread like that. I just got a personal blender from a friend but does not know the first thing about making smoothies, dacqueries, margaritas, nothing....So if someone does have a recipe, please share...

Problem is if it's just a thread...either people update it, or don't...if they don't it vanishes, if they do, it runs out five million miles.  Jus my 2c.

Hi Doug,

There may be a compromise here somewhere. Threads can be made into "stickies", which means they stay at the top of the forum like the Welcome threads some forums have.

If there appears to be enough interest, maybe we could have a sticky recipe thread that wouldn't need meaningless "bump" posts to keep it current. We could be strict about only posts containing recipes being allowed - and non-recipe posts could even be deleted.

What do you - or anyone - think about this? It would have to be discussed with the other moderators as well if there is interest, but I don't see a problem with it myself.

I think it would get a great idea, Ann. Please get with the others and see if it can be made a reality. But can it also be for alcoholic drinks too? Well, girly drinks..
