hi,
i first want to thank all of you, who helped worried people and educate others.
I am worried about fingering a girl with an open wound on my finger. I thought it had healed but when I washed my hands after fingering her it was still bleeding. it wasnt a cut it was a circular  bleeding wound.
I understand that fingering is not a risk for infection when the skin is intact or with cuts that have had time to heal but mine was still fresh.

do you think i should get tested over this??

thanks for all the help and god bless

No, testing is not necessary. I've never known of a confirmed case of transmission caused by cuts, nicks, bruises, open sores and other wounds, very new or otherwise.

You're good to go on this one.

Cheers.

Muscle pains are not even remotely an HIV-specific symptom. In fact you need to remember for future reference that symptoms or lack of same will never tell you anything accurately about your HIV status.

If you have had a real risk because of unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse, the only way you can reliably know your HIV status is by getting tested at 13 weeks after the incident.

Cheers.

I know symptoms don't mean anything but when someone is worried they tend to multiply hehe... thanks for the responses
Reading the transmission lesson i got confused because they said hiv can enter through a fresh cut (which is what I had) and that it is easily transmitted inside the body (which is where my finger was)
I understand that there hasn't been a single documented because people usually don't only finger.
I just wanted to make sure that I was at NO risk and not a LOW risk. I also gave her cunnilingus which i understand is NO risk.

TFH,

I understand that there hasn't been a single documented because people usually don't only finger.

No, there hasn't been a single documented case because this is NOT how hiv is transmitted.

You only fingered, you didn't have unprotected intercourse, what's stopping others from doing the same?

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple. Read through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them with confidence.

If vaginal fluids come into contact with an open wound (bleeding) inside the body there is no risk of becoming infected whatsoever , is this because the cells of the finger are not receptive to hiv?

thanks,

If anyone was at risk in this scenario, it was the woman you fingered with your actively bleeding finger. You put yourself at risk for a bacterial infection in your cut, but not hiv. BTW, didn't it sting like hell?

thanks,

Well, if it didn't sting, that just proves it was sufficiently healed on a micro-level. It the natural salt content in her fluids didn't reach the nerve endings in your cut, there's no way it would have reached any of the specific cells that hiv can infect.

You really are worrying needlessly. If you had a risk, we'd tell you. We're in the business of stopping hiv infections, not furthering them.

It's time you moved on with your life.

I understand I might sound irrational for not letting go of my fear over this no risk incident.
I'm just freaking out because I fingured her deeply and had a open wound on the top of my finger.
I know there havent been any documented cases but did u ever hear of any?

thanks,

No, I've never heard of anyone being infected this way and I don't expect to either. Why? Because it just doesn't happen that way.

If you cannot bring yourself to believe us, then go test at the appropriate time and collect your negative result. However, you will not be permitted to use this website to go on and on about your NO RISK fingering incident.

If you've read the Welcome Thread like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote
Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned.

Sorry for coming back I m just really scared I talked to my doctor and he said whenever there is blood (open bleeding cut) tobodily fluids there is a risk for infection . I don't know what to do . My symptoms have not gone away and I sometimes have numbness in some muscles  . Please tell me why I wasn't at risk , people are usually smarter thAn me and don't finger with cuts ... Sorry again

Find another doctor that knows what he's talking about when it comes to HIV transmission.

HIV is transmitted via unprotected vaginal or anal sex, sharing works with other IV drug abusers or from mother to child.

Everyone here has told you that you are worrying needlessly.

You have no basis in HIV science to be concerned about your status. Just because your mind keeps coming up with things to scare you with doesn't change that.

Your feelings are quite another matter. We can't help you with that.

I can tell you that if you keep coming back here about the same non-risk situation you are going to get a time out.

I took an oraquick test 2 days ago for peace of mind and it came back negative.
Thanks for all the support you guys gave me and sorry for worrying needlessly.
And for all the worriers out there ,these guys know what they're talking about, i had almost every symptom in the book but as it is said so often here, symptoms or no symptoms don't mean anything.

Thanks again , I really appreciate it
