Right, your HIV just disappeared...

Man, this is going to do a ton of damage. Wonder how long it is before people start asking questions about the probability it disappears in the Am I Infected? section...

If it was inaccurate why did it take 10 years to find that out?  I wonder if he is equating an undetectable viral load with a negative HIV test.  Though it does say that the boxing medical experts have reviewed his case, so presumably if there was something funny going on they would have pointed it out by now.  Strange indeed.

Just because it may be true for one man its not going to be generally true. There are too many of these irresponsible types of reporting. look at the andrew stimpson thing in the Uk, where is he now?
I know i'm going to enjoy the party in the afterlife, but do you all mind that I'm going to be VERY late!!!

I think it's a distinct possibility that he had a false positive result all those years ago, when the tests weren't as reliable. After all, once a person has been deemed to be hiv positive, how many people repeat the antibody tests? It's happened before in a couple cases where someone tested positive on the older tests and were later found to have had a false positive. It hasn't happened very often, but it has happened. It doesn't seem to happen now though (to people being diagnosed today), with the more advanced tests and tighter confirmation proceedures in place.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

"We checked with a number of infectious disease specialists who say that they are finding more and more situations with people with or without treatment who had HIV, it disappeared," Arum said. "It's in the medical literature. In any event, there is not a trace."

Oh, boy, disappearing HIV and a cure (in another thread) all in the same week.  I am going to hold my breath until HIV disappears from my body (which, technically, it will after my corpse is no longer a viable host).

I'm rushing to the clinic today to demand an Oraquick, ELISA, and WB test be taken immediately!!  Maybe my CD4 count dropped to 169 of its own accord.

So much good news can't help but prove that today AIDS is a walk-in-the-park, a minor problem like dandruff, nothing to worry one's silly head about.  And I am Marie of Roumania...

Ann, i thought they are still using the same test as they were using ten years ago, basically Elisa and Western Block. I don't think the test itself has been more refined or advanced unless there is a specif paper that states how.
Spekaing of how many that gets retested, Christine Maggiore (the dissdient queen) did and ketp coming up with different lab result which is supposedly the reason why she got into the whole dissident realm.
1/29/07 14 T, 300 k V, 1.8 %
2/22/07 197 T, 247 V, 6.8 %
3/27/07 164 T, <50 V, 5.4 %
5/28/07 177 T, <50 V, 8.2 %
7/28/07 214 T, <50 V, 9.6 %
10/3/07 380 T, <50 V, 10 %

but... youd think that things like viral load and stuff would have tipped off the doctors, during routine medical visits post-test.

Then again, Morrison has no real credibility, as he kept changing his story re: transmission and has been a very vocal dissident since his diagnosis.

He's a boiling mound of whack, in my opinion.

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

He could be lying.

"Where's my virus?  Has anyone seen my virus?"

I manage to lose my dignity, my social security card, passport, and head from time to time... but never HIV.

No fair.
