How are my numbers looking?
« on: October 19, 2012, 10:34:18 pm »
Hi everyone.

Hi, I just tested positive last April. Here are my numbers to date:

27 April: CD4=258, CD4%=20, Viral Load=638,559 (!)
22 May: Started Atripla
29 June: CD4=311, CD4%=18, Viral Load=1583
30 July: CD4=512, CD4%=24.4, Viral Load=550
17 Sept: CD4=498, CD4%=20, Viral Load=247

My viral load has dropped dramatically and steadily. My CD4 count has almost doubled. But what about my CD4%? It jumped up and then back down again. From what I read, 20% is not so great. But my doctors tell me that my numbers are good and not to worry. Ha! Easy for them to say.

So I'm wondering and worrying, am I on the right track? Shouldn't my CD4% be rising? I generally try to eat right and exercise. I don't smoke and rarely drink. What else should I be doing?

Any feedback or suggestions, please?

in four months you're almost UD, and your CD4 has almost doubled. i'd say you're doing great, keep doing everything you've been doing. be well!

I agree with your doctor.  Btw, your CD4 percentage/average is pretty much constant over the course of 5 months worth of labs.  While it's back to what it was during your first set of labs, you've also only been on meds for 4 months when your last set of labs were done.  Also, you show a continuous decrease in Vl, which is most important right now.

   You're doing good thus far...

some of us have lived with HIV 20+ years and never known their %. ;)

Being UD is the biggest factor - as there's really nothing you can do to significantly change your cd4 count. If you were to graph out your numbers and look at the trend you would see your VL dramatically dropping and your cd4 steadily creeping higher. What's there to worry about with those kinds of results? LOL ;D
