OK, I tried to sign on, but it won't let me on and it jammed my computer up and I had to shut if off & turn on again.  Yes, I joined, but when I entered my screen name it said it was the wrong one and it's not.   :-\  I'll try it again.

Just click on the link and type something in the chat room. It will then ask your nickname, you don't need to register.

UPDATE

I put a password on the chat room since you can read what folks were talking about.  I saw concern about deleting links and thinks like that and I think that's a god point.  It should be more like IRC.
Meebo seems to be pretty good about taking feedback, so what I suggest is that we make a list of things we would like to see implemented and I can send it to them.  This chat room is brand new and still in development from what I have read.  I will ask about the whole chat history thing though and get back to you.

Thanks for checking it out everyone, it should be fun when it's done ;)

I figure this is a safe place for the password for now.  It is @cc3$$

This is a warning for Betty.....we recently had to re configure our computer...it wouldnt even let us get online.  I am sure it was something I picked up "exploring" the links on this website.

( We had to erase everything and start from scratch with a new Windows program.)

Thanks for the warning bear!  I'm not going to try this one again.  I definitely can't afford new software.

Betty.
Using Meebo will not cause you to need to software.  It is simply a company who created a web based method for people to use Yahoo, AIM, ICQ etc.
There are several people who like it because they can connect from behind firewalls that block the above mentioned chat clients.  It is also less processes for your CPU.  But I won't get to technical.  The rooms are a brand new addition to Meebo and I was simply sharing way for us to try to chat.
I have personally used Meebo since it started on PC's from both of my work boxes, to anyone of the boxes on my network at home without a problem.
Their team mentions in their blog that there were issues with the first release, but this was in no way anything that would cause a PC to crash for good.  It's web based, remember? Meaning it installs nothing on your box.

I am in the room now and would be happy to explain more if you'd like.  If I thought it to be malicious or anything like that, I wouldn't even go there.  I have too much to lose to take that chance.  But it's all backed up anyhow so restoring a fresh version of windows as bear just had to do is simple.  Having an image of the working system makes it easier.

So Meebo is fine.  Just be patient.  Hit me up in private if you'd like, I don't mind sharing a bit of skill here or there ;)

Ciao
