Serostim Cost and Medicare Part D (or other insurance)
« on: December 30, 2007, 12:42:05 am »
 >:(

HELP!   I have been taking HGH (Serostim) for over 7 years.  I have Medicare and also Blue Cross of CA ( a full policy which is now secondary to Medicare).   and am wondering if anyone knows of a Medicare Part D plan that 1) covers the drug without making you interrupt treatment (after 3 months) and 2) charges less than 5% of the drug cost as a copay AFTER you are through the Donut Hole.  So far, I haven't found a Part D plan in my zip code (West Hollywood, CA) for which my cost for the drug will be less than $8100.00 per year.  I've gone to several web sites and don't trust the information, APLA is useless so I'm wondering if anyone has personal experience with obtaining this drug without becoming homeless.

Prior to 2007, certain pharmacies were able to help with the co-pays because they made enough profit dispensing the drug.  However, my secondary insurance company, Blue Cross changed its reimbursement policy basically forcing patients to get the drug through mail order which is a nightmare and VERY expensive $6,000 per year plus $5000 per year in premiums.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. The deadline for changing your Medicare Part D is December 31, and I am desperate.

Thanks in advance for any help that comes my way.....
