Cocteau Twins.

That 80's thread really took me back to my teenage years....I was shocked to remember that I was just 14/15 when I first heard Cocteau Twins....so long ago!!!

So I looked on 'youtube' and had a massive nostalgia trip  :)

The screeching music, and THAT voice.....they make the hairs on the back of your head rise.

'Head over Heels' from 1983 is THE album of all time IMO.

Anyone else have fond memories of them?

Blue Bell Knoll is fantastic, though I have to admit I'm partial to Four Calendar Cafe: you can actually make out the lyrics. But then I graduated to Mazzy Star and revelled in the down beat.

Are CT still around madd?

No.....very acrimonious split......I always thought they sounded like an aural mental breakdown and apparently this is what had been going on for years....but Liz Fraser does collaborate a lot, most notably on 'Teardrop' with Massive Attack.

Aaaaaaah....Mazzy Star.....more gorgeous doom-merchants :D

An avid fan both of CT and 4ad their record label. I got to see them play in NYC back in the mid 80's. I was on mushrooms.  Faye Wong- the Chinese singer has made a record with them.
I got the box set as well as BBC sessions , I go between Treasure and Head Over Heels.

Try this Norway's answer to CT- Bel Canto
