I skipped my Atripla dose!
« on: August 13, 2008, 01:32:20 pm »
I´ve been with Atripla for 34 days, my firs time in meds since 3 years diagnosed, and i was doing really fine: My VL droped inmediatly to less than 50. BUT last night i fell sleep and forgot my dose!! I realised at 10 this morning. My doc is on holidays and my pharmacy told me not to catch up by taking it at 11 or noon, just to skip it, and back to normal tonite. Did i do the right thing?? Will this spoile the whole adherence or develope resistance?? I´m very worried (kicking my self, basicallyy) and would appreciate any tip  :o

Skipped your dose? You naughty man. You are wicked and hateful and just like the rest of us.

So get over it, ok. :)

Atriplia is a forgiving combo. Just take your next dose and move on.

David,

As The Damned One said, you will be fine. The drugs in Atripla have along half life, so a single skipped dose is not something to beat yourself up over.

To prevent this from happening in the future, you can sign up up for text message alerts through the Prezista website. The link:

http://www.prezista.com/prezista/reminders_program.html

It is a free service (no matter your regimen) and will send you a text message once or twice a day (as appropriate). It has saved my ass more than once (particularly at night)..

All the best...

Hi David,

In future, would you mind terribly posting about any given subject in one forum only? If you're looking for immediate answers, your best bet is the higher-traffic Living With forum. Posting the same thread in multiple forums is considered forum spamming. Besides, it's easier for EVERYONE if all your replies are in one place.

If you haven't already, please read our Welcome Thread

And by the way, welcome to the forums.

Don't sweat missing a dose once in a while, just don't make a habit of it. There are ways and means to help you stay regular - for instance daily pill containers and setting an alarm on your mobile phone, wristwatch, or computer. It sounds like you've been doing great so far, so don't let one mistake get you down. We're only human. Just keep doing your best.

Every weekend? Your chancing resistance. There's a huge difference between the odd "whoopsie" and missing every weekend. I certainly hope you're not advocating this lax approach to treatment adherence.

It's never good to skip. Make sure you get back on track as quickly as possible.
