My labs: some good news, and some not so good news

I just got the word that I'm undetectable, just one short month after I started taking Truvada + Viramune as part of a clinical trial for extended-release Viramune.   That's the good news.  The bad news is that my CD4 count (which had risen from 166 to 272 after the first two weeks on the combo) actually dropped to 217 after four weeks of treatment.  I admit, however, that, immediately before my most recent labs were drawn, I spent 10 days on a booze-filled, workout-free, sleep-deprived Atlantis Cruise in Europe, so perhaps that has something to do with my CD4's going down a bit.   ;)  I'm just hoping that they'll be heading up in the right direction when I go back in in a couple of weeks.   ::)

Congrats on the undetectable result. I wouldn't worry about the CD4 as it can vary quite a bit.

Just focused on the good news which is good indeed (congrats!)

I've been interested in your results as hopefully on the 30th I will start the same meds as part of the same study.

As for the bad, if you even want to call it that, I think you are probably right that it has more to do with  "10 days on a booze-filled, workout-free, sleep-deprived Atlantis Cruise" then any significant issue with you or the meds.

I am curious though what the research people said.  Again - not because there is anything to worry about, but as I am in the same study,. I'm curious as to how they discussed the numbers.

Thanks for the comments, all. 

Iggy, the folks handling the study were very reassuring and said not to worry about the CD4 decline -- that the undetectable viral load was more important and that the CD4's have a tendency to jump around a bit.  So they were not concerned.  I hope you have the same easy sailing with this regimen that I've had so far.

Just wanted to add to what others have said that your percentage has increased a bit. That's a sign the slight decrease in absolute counts is nothing to worry about.
