THANKFUL
« on: April 05, 2010, 12:35:17 am »
 ;) Hello Ladies:

I'm new to this forum...I am thankful that there is somewhere for positive women to come and share their concerns and fears without being questioned or judged.

I remember when I was first tested for the virus.  It was 1985...I was so terrified that I didn't even follow through for further evaluation or information of my condition.  It wasn't until 1996 that I was tested...and of course I was positive.

I'm thankful that despite all the time it took me to admit the reality of something I already knew, I had good doctors to help me.

It's been a long time since I was diagnosed and I've been in treatment every since.  I thank God that His mercies are new every day.  He has been faithful and loving to me all these years.

I know it's not a coincidence that after all this time I''ve become a member of this site.  I began, several years ago, just to get information, but now I believe I have somewhat of a testimony to share with others.  I am very thankful that this site is so open and helpful to those who are members.

Thank you for this opportunity to post my gratitude... 8)

Survivor, welcome to our ladies' family.  There are terrific women here who are very helpful and supportive.

I tested + in 1989, while in treatment, so I can relate to it being a "long time."  I was on AZT when they first started prescribing it, then later followed by some of the older meds, like 3tc, d4t etc.  Thank heavens those days are over, with better meds today.

I'd love to hear more from you.  Please visit us often, and feel free to take part in our "ladies thread."  It's followed by a number (which is the number of threads we've had).  Sorry, I should have taken a look at it before posting this so I would remember what this thread is called.  Anyway, it's where we get together to share our daily lives and struggles etc.  Again, welcome!
  Luv,
Betty

Thanks Betty for the warm welcome to the family.  I look foward to sharing with the ladies as I get more familiar with the rules and how to do the threads, etc.  I'm new to this site therefore it will take a lttle time to get situated. ::)

I was tested in 85, but I didn't actually begin therapy until 96...it's the reason I'm so thankful, b/c I was spared during all that time.  I didn't get sick or anything.  I took care of myself and really didn't put too much mind to it.  I was young (22) and afraid.  I really didn't want to confront that particular part of my life and so I didn't go back to verify the first test.  To be honest, I just brushed it off.  But I knew that it would come up again.

Well, I'll be brief for now.  I'll share more as I get more comfortable with the family.  This is really great that you ladies are family, that's so important.  Especially when sometimes there are things you cannot share with our natural families.

Again, thanks for the warm welcome!!
