Nausea med that can be taken with Isentress

My husband has been positive since 1986 so has tried many meds.He started Isentress in april and has tolerated it very well with the exception of nausea.Mostly dry heaves in the morning.Is there anything you do that helps with this?Also thank you all so much for this forum.I appreciate all of you so much.

Nausea is definately no fun, especially the dreaded dry heaves..Sorry your husband is having issues..I'm not on that particular med and do not suffer nausea on my meds, but when I do feel queasy at any time, Ginger works wonders..Should be completely safe since its not even a medication! Give it a shot and hope all goes well

Candy, in the Lessons pages of this website, in the Side Effect area there is a section that deals specifically with nausea. Please check it out for tips.

I'm wondering if he's feeling like this immediately after getting out of bed in the morning. If that's when it happens, some of the tricks for morning sickness (in pregnancy) might help - specifically eating a few saltines or something else equally as bland before getting out of bed. Sometimes just having a little something in your stomach before getting up and moving around can help.

If all else fails, he should speak to his hiv doctor about this problem. The doctor will know exactly what anti-nausea meds to prescribe for him.

Is he taking it with food or on an empty stomach ?
I never have breakfast and could not tolerate Isentress in the morning eitheR.

My solution was to take both Isentress in the evening, after dinner.
I know it's supposed to be twice a day, and the studies on Isentress once daily were stopped, but it has worked for me. No nausea whatsoever.
