Under the Knife
« on: January 21, 2007, 07:53:08 pm »
My Dad is going into surgery again in the morning.  A stint in his kidneys.  He has had numerous surgeries over the years.  Cross your fingers, say a prayer, wish on a star...just send a thought.  Whatever.

He is due in at 6:30 am.

thanks, guys.  and sleet works fine.  it's the wishing that matters.

i have been up and down on this roller coaster for years with him.  been right on the edge a few times.  he seems to be in a pretty good shape for it at the moment, but he has some things (like congestive heart failure and stuff) that are ongoing and will not get better- just treated to slow the deterioration.  he is a tough old bird (his words).

whatever happens, he and i are in a better place one with another than we ever have been before.  i'm still hoping for the best.

love the man.

Best of luck to your Dad tomorrow - so cool to hear you two are in a good place with each other now.  Let us know how your both doing tomorrow.

Believe it or not - no stars to wish on here either.....it's actually snowing these gigantic snow flakes!  (Always a sign of good things though when it snows in the desert)

Tim, I've had stints put in. It wasn't a big deal. I was put out and it was over with. I had to have mine for 30 days and then went back in put out again and it was removed. Didn't feel a thing. He will be limited on how much weight he can pick up. If he over does it he'll piss blood but it isn't something to get alarmed about. He'll just have to be careful.

Thank you so much everyone for all the well wishes and prayers.  Turns out that he is fine-  rather, they didn't need to put the stint in after all.  The downside is that he does have some diminished kidney function of indeterminate origin, but it is not due to the artery blockage to his kidney.  It has been revealed that he actually has extra arteries going to his kidneys than the average joe has, so there was no need for the stint.  He needs to now go the kidney specialist to do more tests to find out what is causing the loss of function.
