Could I be infected? Worried....Very sick...

Hello,

I am a young gay male who recently had two sexual experiences over the past month. These happen to be my first.

With the first guy I was the receptive anal partner and we used condoms as well as lube. He did not ejaculate in the condom even. He actually masturbated onto his own self later. The only problem is that when it shot upwards a little bit got into my eye. I've read online this is a potential entry route, is that true? and how likely of a entry route?

Also, he was touching my anus region a lot and I had a hemroid that week. I'm concerned he could have had cum on his hands that got into my hemroid as an entry route as well. I also performed oral sex on him with no condom.  That was the first experience.

The second experience I was again the receptive anal partner with lube and condoms. My concern is again the same, the guy fingering me after touching his penis could have gotten his precum inside me. I also performed oral sex on him without a condom. He accidentally ejaculated into my mouth and I swallowed some. Mind you, I had no visible signs of cuts or abrasions in my mouth. I checked later.

This was all about 3 weeks ago. What was wierd is that last week I woke up with bad stomach cramps, chills, a high fever of 38 celcius and diarhea. I even went to the hospital out of panicking. What was strange was that by the time I got to the hospital the fever went down to 34 which is normal. This means I only had a fever for maybe 2 hours. The next morning I felt fine. No chills, no diahrea. I was told at the hospital that this was called a 24 hour stomach virus flu.

However, when I seen my family doctor today and told him about my sexual experiences he told me he thinks I could be seroconverting so he did a blood test that I won't see the results from until Monday. He tells me he thinks I'm okay but at the same time he can't say for sure and needs to do the test. He also told me that 3 months window is a conservative view and that he will be able to see if I'm positive at 3 weeks.

Anyway, Now I'm going crazy worrying non stop that my symptoms were from HIV. Do you guys think based on what I described the chances are high that I have HIV? Is the eye a strong entry route for hiv? What about someone touching your anus or fingering it with having potential precum on their hand? And lastly, I'm not sure if the condomn broke in both cases. I threw them both in the garbage myself, it didn't seem like it, but you never know!

Please help.

Its a shame your doctor is intentionally trying to scare you , you didn't have a risk in any of the situations that you are concerned about , no risk what so ever . Its unlikely the condom broke , they are designed in such a way that they fail catastrophically so as to leave no doubt that they failed .

These are the risk factors for HIV to avoid .

Sharing IV drug needles immediately after use.
Unprotected anal and vaginal sex.
Mother to child during or shortly after birth
Very specific healthcare situations.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Seriously . Please find a trustworthy doctor , the one you have now is not looking out for your best interest . Also , please relax and know that if you did have a risk we would be begging you to go get tested , the facts are you did not do a single thing that was a risk .

I concur with Moderator Jeff. I honestly think your doctor is trying to scare you out of having gay sex.

That is unethical, irresponsible, and unprofessional. You need a new doctor.

Hello,

So I just want some advice on this...so the night before last I performed oral sex on another male without a condom. From what I could see there were no visible cuts in my mouth except for maybe a small canker sore that I already had from a while ago. He did NOT ejaculate in my mouth, however, when he orgasamed some of it got on my face. I moved out of the way but the way I was angled some of it felt like it got into my right nostril. I used my shirt to wipe it off and am concerned that that could of possibly been an entry route. My nose gets very dry this time of year and sometimes bleeds from being dry and blowing my nose so much. I'm worried that my nose could of had a cut and the seamen (if it was infected) could of gotten into my bloodstream that way. I should also mentioned I rimmed him as well.

Anyway, the next day (so yesterday) I ate a chicken souvlaki which I later found out was left on the kitchen counter for two days without being refridgerated. A few hours later while at work I started to feel queezy and sick to my stomach. All last night I had projectile vomitting...I vomitted about three times. I also had and still have diarhea. No fever was present at anytime because I checked. I took a shower and went to bed. Now today, I've woken up and feel fine...almost as if I was never sick...the only symptom I still have is some mild cramping and a bit of diarhea, but I feel a whole lot better.

My mom says eating chicken that sits on the counter for two days and not being refridgerated can make you sick.

Based on what happened do you guys think this is from the food, or does it sound like HIV seroconversion?

No it does not sound remotely like hiv seroconversion. You didn't have a risk in the first place.

Eating chicken that has not been stored properly can make you deathly ill. I'm not surprised you've been projectile vomiting and still have diarrhea. If any of this was caused by hiv, it would take at least two weeks for it to show up, not a day.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

So here goes...I'm a 23 year old gay male just experiencing sex for the first time. I know that sounds wierd, but it's a long story. Let's just say I grew up in a family that prohibited me from being who I actually am so I never really got to experience sex when most people my age did.

That brings me to this...This is my third time having sex as the receptive partner. I've never been worried about the first two times because they didn't have anything to alarm me.

In this recent exposure, or possible exposure, I performed unprotected ORAL sex on a man. He did not ejaculate in my mouth, however, there is always the presence of precum. I later noticed there was a slight peeling of the skin on my bottom lip from having dry chapped lips from all the cold weather. It wasn't bleeding but it was slighty red and tender from being chapped. I'm very worried about this.

Secondly, I was the receptive anal partner for which we DID use a CONDOM. Lubricant as well. The condom at NO time broke and I know because I am the one that took it off and threw it in the garbage.

HOWEVER, my concern is this. Before we had intercourse he has already ejaculated from the oral sex. The seamen got on my hands which I ofcourse wiped off on a towel. About a minute later he than wanted to have intercourse so I opened the condom and put it on his penis, after this I applied lubricant and rubbed it all over the condom. We than had sex. I generally have hemroids which leave abrasions and tender areas in my anal region. My question is this, what if some of his seamen from earlier when he first ejaculated wasn't properly wiped off my hand when I went to wipe it on the towel, and then when I spread the lubricant all over his penis and condom, the seaman mixed in with the lubricant....could I have become infected if he was positive? Basically...in this situation Do you all think I had an exposure? I mean, I wiped the cum off my hands...I know I did....but still....what if some got on the condom and in the lube when I went to put them on afterwards??? help please

Once again you are worrying needlessly. Your saliva has over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV if it is present during oral sex.

HIV is a very fragile virus. When exposed to the air it becomes non-viable. So having had some semen on your hands from your partner's first ejaculation when puttting the condom on again would not be a risk. You did not have an exposure and there is no need for testing or concern on your part.
