My aunt has HIV
« on: September 15, 2008, 09:08:39 am »
My Aunt---has HIV my uncle passed in the early 90's---I have helped her get over the shame she has lived with for some reason, for many years. I finally pushed her and got her in contact with the aids foundation where she now gets her meds free and in the mail. No more choosing to eat and feed her teenage kids--which are neg BTW...(weird because she had a 2 year old when my uncle was diagnosed with full blown aids) or buy her medication. She at one point was in single digits with her T cells. She brought me on a couple of doc visits with her and she is now at 500 or more. When I went the doc told her it was unlikely she would jump over 400. HA! So much for that fancy degree on his wall--LOSER! Anyway--I thought I would share on here--as a former worrywell.

Jim, that's great to read that your aunt, with your help and support, is doing so well. And that her youngest is HIV negative.

You've taken your experience, knowledge and determination and made it help someone else in need. Way to go!

HIV infection is a disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The condition gradually destroys the immune system, which makes it harder for the body to fight off infections.

What on earth does this response have to do with anything the OP wrote? especially being your first and only post

Jim that is great that your aunt has someone like you.  I was dignosed with AIDS almost 5 years go and my daughter is 11.  I traced back to I must have had it when I had her, and she is negative.  I also have a son who is 14 but he was before all of this happened with me.

The one thing I can say is family is a HUGE part of myself doing as well as I am.  Your aunt is very lucky to have you.
