Pictures from my Austin Trip!
« on: January 26, 2007, 11:43:52 am »
I feel as though the first photo aptly sums up the trip.  I was in Texas... while it was covered in ice.  Oh yes.

Me, my friend Ash, and Nicole got the big drinky... I forget the name of it or what was in it.  We couldn't finish it and really just wanted a prop.

This is a view of downtown Austin.  Notice the gay leather bar (called The Oilcan) that I didn't have time to stumble over to.

An enterprising Austinite uses a meat cleaver to remove ice from her friend's car.

Some native Texan flora (my bad)... covered in ice.  I thought it was a funny image.

My friend Josh and I celebrate a successful game of drunken pool by acting out... something.  I don't remember what.

This is the Alamo Drafthouse.  I liked that place.  A lot.  Good movies.

My friend Scott and I celebrate having found a very awesome bar called the Ginger Man.  I'm happier about it than he is.

Stupid smoking ban meant we had to go outside... and die of hypothermia... to get our emphysema on.

I found imported beer from Quebec at the Ginger Man.  I forced Scott to be in a picture of it.

When in sunny Texas... be sure to visit beautiful Austin!  Just not at the same time as me.  I bring nasty weather.

Is that E or is it one of those foamy tablets with vitamin C in it?  I'll never tell...

I speak the truth.  I pwomise!   ::)

"Droogie" is from A Clockwork Orange.  It's used like "friend" or "mate."

Come and get one in the yarbles... if you've got any yarbles thou eunuch jelly thou!

You should see it.  Young Malcolm McDowell in small underwear... oh yes.

I'm disappointed that I can't find copious lines of coke anywhere.

See the picture of me with the extremely large, red drink?

It was all in my nose.  And in my pocket.

I'm a little too excited to be sipping on that thing.  And my pupils are freakishly large for being in a dark bar.  That was all chemicals.

A slightly less young Malcolm McDowell in Penthouse's production of "Caligula." He's starkers for half the movie.
Her finely-touched spirit had still its fine issues, though they were not widely visible. Her full nature, like that river of which Cyrus broke the strength, spent itself in channels which had no great name on the earth. But the effect of her being on those around her was incalculably diffusive: for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.

George Eliot, Middlemarch, final paragraph

But that movie's crap.  And you know it!   ;D

When Roger Ebert uses the quote of a woman he heard by the water fountain that amounted to, "this is the worst piece of shit movie ever made" make up his critique of the film... you know it's gotta suck.

Agreed. It's that bad. It's almost unbelievable they got John Gielgud, Helen Mirren, and Peter O'Toole to say a few lines. And I think Gore Vidal has a writing credit. One good (hetero) blowjob scene though.

No, Gore had his name taken off the script due to extensive re-writes by Guccione and McDowell

Nice pics.

I'm fairly certain the plant is an agave americana, and man, if that yellow pill is an E.... well, it's true what they say, everything is bigger in America.
