Is this possible
« on: October 14, 2008, 10:09:35 am »
Hi

i am a 26 yr old Asian. I really appreciate what you guys are doing here. as its god sent for many.
I also am in need of urgent help.

I was at my gym where a guy next to me was bleeding profusely. a common table where he was seated had blood drops on it and i had rested my hand there. moment i saw fresh blood i withdrew my hand off. in ignorance i just ate with the same hands w/o washing them. now the crux of the matter is that i don't remember the status of my hand and my mouth either. although i had checked the next morning i did not really see a deep cut on my hands as i am sure had it i had one it would have been clearly visible, but the status of mouth remains unknown yet. however, my question to you is that considering the incident what are my chances of being infected?

what i mean is that as i am unsure about cuts and abrasions on the parts of the body i mentioned, as both my hand and mouth came in contact with blood, what is the possibility of acquiring the infection?

Please let me tell you that i must have kept my hand after about 40 sec after it oozed outta his wound and then another half a min to eat my sandwich.

I have been constantly living in complex of fears and abstinence even with my wife? this is ruining my life. one month before this incident i had got myself tested and it was non reactive by Tridot.

Whats your take on this? do i medical surveillance or am i safe and free from infection? Can I resume back to my married life.. did i need PEP immediately after this incident? am i remotely safe from having being infected...if you think i am what should be my next step... can i live for 25 years if i take utmost care of myself or will i die in a few years? what should i do....please help me.... DO I NEED REPEAT TESTING?

Con,

You weren't at risk. You did not need PEP. Your negative result is not going to change and you don't need further testing.

Hiv is not transmitted via environmental surfaces. It is transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse.

Does that mean that i am all safe with no virus in my body and that i am HIV-... Will it be wise to resume back to a normal life with my spouse, plan for a baby etc..?

Since i have been having physical problems which kinda are like ars ( fever, motions, coated tounge, fatigue) can i construe that these are all irrelevant with regards to HIV and that my fears are meaningless. One Q that may catch ur eye is that the guy who bled has stopped coming to gym...there can be a possibility of he being +..is my chance of being safe regardless to his status.

Thanks ann.. Would appreciate if you can help me conclude this

god bless u foreva
i will pray for u

Symptoms really mean nothing, seriously!  Rod answered your question with the following response, "You cannot give someone anything you don't have".  You cannot get HIV by blood on a table.  Even if the guy was positive the virus would have long been dead in those drops you described.

Just so you know not all blood you see will be infected with HIV and even if it was you stand no chance of getting infected by the way you described.

con,

Unless you had unprotected anal intercourse with the guy from the gym, you weren't at risk for hiv infection when he bled.

You weren't at risk. You don't need further testing. You ARE hiv negative.

Now go have some sex with your wife. It's ok. Really.

Neither touching the blood nor even if you swallowed it and IF it was from an HIV+ person, none of that would put you at risk for HIV transmission. You are worrying needlessly. That is absolutely NOT how HIV is transmitted.

Let it go and get on with your life. Really.

con,

You didn't have a risk for hiv infection. If you feel unwell, it's nothing to do with hiv. You had no risk. See your doctor if you feel unwell.

If you're read the Welcome Thread like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote
Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned.

Con,

The window period for hiv testing is THREE months, not six. It doesn't matter what sort of antibody test is used.

You can test NOW if you want. You aren't in a window period as you didn't have a risk.

Your time out warning still stands. Consider yourself warned for the LAST time.

The advise you have already been given hasn't changed..I'm giving you a 28 day TO..Ann has already given you a last warning.

Please do not try and create another user name to get back in because you will be caught and the ban will be permenant.

Con,

I just discovered that you've already been banned in the past for creating multiple accounts. Guess what? You're permanently banned AGAIN.

I suggest you seek therapy in order to deal with your extreme hiv phobia. We cannot help you with that here.
