I just got to the point last week where I can walk 15-20 blocks, and that's a bit more than three months after my (first) foot surgery back in mid-October. I think AMG is in July this year isn't it?

My second surgery isn't scheduled yet. That "early June" date for it is simply the earliest that is being discussed. There's just no way I'll be able to travel a month after surgery.

Yeah right. Let's see -- five weeks after my last surgery I was going to try and take the train to NYC for Thanksgiving even though my feet had just had the last stitches taken out that previous week. And what happened? One of the incisions became infected, I cancelled my trip at the very last minute and I had to go to the doctor the day after Thanksgiving.

Would you go to AMG a month after having 40 stitches in your foot? Of course not, none of you would. Because you're all much larger pussies about stuff like that than I am.

Well, Miss P,

IF your surgery gets scheduled for after AMG AND there is enough time for you to book -- it would be nice to meet you.

For the record -- after hearing of tales of your tricks, I doubt there is ANYONE on these boards with a bigger pussy.........   ;D

Hey Philly, hope you can make it if the surgery gets scheduled for perhaps August, you would be fun to have along.  I hope to get there by Thursday and stay until the middle of the next week.  I enjoy going to Washington and I have seen some nice sights in DC but don't really know my way around.

Philly, I didn't know you'd have to have 2 surgeries.

They do one foot at a time, not both at once. And in between they want a good six months of healing. My "six months" became delayed due to a recurring infection post-surgery hence not until early June at the earliest now for the 2nd foot.

Boy, am I pleasantly surprised to see that this year's AMG  is in Washington, DC! The first one I attended was years ago in Montreal, and I remember crying my eyes out because I was leaving Moffie, Weasel/Lisa and several others that I became close with during the gathering. If there's time in the schedule, I'd definitely want to open up our (me and my partner's) home for a casual dinner one night. We are located in NOMA, off the NY Ave/Gallaudet University stop on the red line. Although years ago, the area was somewhat seedy, as someone has said before, the area now has become a mecca for young professionals and developers. I (a 5'1" asian man) walk home from the metro every night (0.6 mile walk) after work and don't feel unsafe. Or an alternative could be I join you all for dinner one night. There are definitely some very nice restaurants along the U St, H St, Union Station and Dupont Circle areas.

I was considering making the trek from Ohio to DC and so far airfare is about $220 but wondering if anybody was open to sharing a room? I assume it's not $109 per night per person is it?
