Title: "Especially someone like you"
Post by: Ihavehope on February 15, 2007, 03:13:35 pm
My younger sister came home late last night (V-day) and as the father figure that I am to her, I told her she should have called and let us know she was coming home late or picked up the phone. She is 19 years old but we come from a Traditional catholic family so, 18 years old means Shit to us. She yelled at me back after I said that and basically told me "I am old enough to come home when I want to, and then I told her that her zipper on her jeans were not zipped and told her she was too young to come home pregnant so she betta have used protection for her own good. She then looked at me and said "I am not dumb. And I don't need lessons from anyone especially someone like you" and slammed the door on my face.

Happy Valentine's to me. I feel like I lost her respect because of my disease and she no longer views me as someone she respects. She doesn't want to look at me or touch me but last night she basically told me my advice and protection was not needed. I feel like I am loosing my voice.

I wish I had an older sibling that would have kept a closer eye on me and guided me and yelled at me when it was necessary. If I did, perhaps I would not be where I am today and I try to remind her to try to stay abstinent and if not to used double protection condoms/pills.

Having a younger sister as you do, this has absolutely nothing to do with you being HIV+.  It is simply a younger sibling telling her older brother to fuck off.  Don't read anything more into that what it is.

Hurling insults may be part of the way your family deals with stress...and it all blows over quickly.
BUT if not....then it seems to me you just put your foot in your mouth and she stepped on your head.
In any case try and make up with her..."I'm sorry I said those things"... type of make up.
