3 hours before 1st dose of meds
« on: August 29, 2006, 02:18:12 pm »
Hi Guys

The time has come when its time to start taking my meds for the 1st time. Ive read posts on here where people are apprehensive about taking them or worried/scared but for me it could not start soon enough, I've had enough this last month of being ill and feeling like crap, so for me starting now is the best thing that could happen.

I'm feeling good about the whole process, and not focusing too much on the side effects as they cant be as bad as the problems of the last month.
3 hours and counting until i take my Sustiva and Combivir, i plan on watching a 'Carry on Film' before i take the meds as i want to go to sleep with a smile on my face and good thoughts running through my head (it may work who knows).

Anyway please keep your fingers crossed for me that the next few days go well.

Paul xx

Sounds like an exceptional plan. Sustiva should help you carry on ;) I found it helpful when beginning meds, to keep a bit of a log as to how I felt, what the weather was like, what I ate, and so on. It has often proved useful when following-up with my doctor and it has been interesting reading when I reflect back on the dreams.

Wishing you vigorous health,

Hello Paul,

Wishing you the best !! I think you mentioned it yourself... "I'm feeling good about the whole process, and not focusing too much on the side effects as they cant be as bad as the problems of the last month."

Thats an excellant atitude, to get yourself started in this.

Paul,  I hope your first dose was non-eventful.  I think there may always be a bit of apprehensiion when starting something new.  I was totally scared when I started mine back in April.  That night, after the first dose, I remember laying there and finally thinking... hummm... I wonder if there really was any medication in these pills.   I pretty much felt nothing till the middle of the night when I was a bit dizzy when I got up for a bathroom break.  I had a few issues in the weeks to come but after a change of meds my life is going on pretty much as it did before.  I can do about everything I did before, I can eat anything I want to, and I can even say up till 4 AM if the mood strikes.

Best of luck!
David

Hello Paul, I hope that all is going well with you. Remember to take your meds as your Doctor has prescribed them. Eat a healthy diet, drink plenty of fluids, get some exercise, and most of all get your proper rest.

Have the BEST Day.

Morning after
« Reply #7 on: August 30, 2006, 03:24:51 am »
Good Morning People

Well its the morning after the night before...... and I slept so well, i took the meds at 10:15 pm and went to bed at 11pm, i managed to get a solid 8 hours sleep with only one toilet break needed at 3 am but i went straight back to sleep.
This morning I've got a bit of a dizzy head which is strange as I'm a morning person and am normally up and about and very active first thing. I'm awake at the normal time but today I'm all wobbly on my legs (making me laugh as i bang into walls), sort of drunk type feeling.

I'm hoping this is the worst it gets, but if not then i know that the meds are working even harder to win the battle raging inside me and I'm going to standby and take whatever comes, this is one fight I'm going to WIN, so bring it on.

Thanks Wellington, Eric, J.R.E, Blixer, Eldon and Alex its going to take more than meds to get through this, and the people like you guys are the missing link......  and thats the love and support you all give which helps me keep a positive fighting attitute, so many many thanks

Banging into the walls (that happened to me the first night) is fun! But it will disappear very soon. So try to enjoy it while it lasts.

Hi Paul,
Good thoughts going out to you today! Most side effects dissipate after a few weeks. Let those meds start fighting that damn virus!

Good afternoon beautiful people ;)

Well its the 2nd day on meds and I'm feeling great, slight fuzziness for an hour when i wake but it soon disappears. At night I'm carefull what i eat and eat before 7pm, I'm drinking rivers of water (maybe its my fault that there is a water drought in the South of England) and I'm finding that the last 2 nights sleep have been amazing.

Still staying positive that things are going to be OK, saw my doctor today and he said that as my numbers dropped so quickly they would not be surprised if they didn't rise as quickly now I'm on HAART. Something to smile about.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts, its good to be able to write something positive on here, long may it be that way.

Hi Paul,

I am very happy the meds are going well for you.  I imagine I will be starting soon and I hope to have the kind of attitude you have.  Keep up the good work!  Please keep sharing your experience as well.

Kind regards,
Drew
