Hi every one may I please ask what I feel is a valid question ?

Is any one here actually a doctor in the field of HIV

I only ask because of some of the responces that I have read to a certain topic.

THE STATEMENTS GIVEN ARE PLAIN WRONG!!!

What on earth are you thinking making such claims based on data that is so obscure and untested.

As requested, Could all QUALIFIED HIV SPECIALISTS (In the MEDICAL sense) please sign in.

And yes if anyone would like to question my soucre to this topic,,please feel free to get in touch

The information provided by Ann and other experts is absolutely correct. Cunnilingus is not a risk activity for transmitting HIV. Lesbians are the demographic least effected by HIV.

Vaginal fluids are not the problem, cervical fluids are, and they are way up near the uterus.

How can you say the info's wrong?

Thanx for the link Bucko,, and if I may answer your questio as to how I can say the info is incorrect, I can say it because That is the way I contracted this virus.........

I knew at the time that my g/f was poz when i got involved,, so I can assure you that we took ALL the protection tha we knew about at the time...

The only "unprotected" sexual act we performed was oral. It was explained to me by my consultant that yes this was a very rare case because such reported instances were documented at 0.02% of infections.

I can assure you that I am not spoiling for a fight, nor am I being liberal with the truth, there are factors that come into the transmission of HIV through oral sex, these factors i now know.

It is my personal policy to not debate unusual transmission stories with poz members here, and I intend on adhering to it in this case. More flames have been started in this place over the risks of oral sex than I'd care to mention.

Ok,, I can understand that, but i feel that due to my experience that un true info is being given out. No one can say that while there is a risk even though it is a very low one,, they cant say IT WONT HAPPEN

If you had horrible oral hygiene ei. meth mouth, bleeding gums, HIV is a possible risk of contracting HIV and a very low risk. But receiving a blowjob or cunnilingus is not a risk. So don't say that the information given is incorrect.

I'd just say that "Doctor" is not a guarantee of correct info. They don't know everything, sometimes they know damn little. Experience is the best teacher.

My point is that people on here are saying catagorically that if you "go down " on a woman that is infected YOU CANT CATCH IT.

You can, yes the risk is very very low,,BUT,,SHIT DOES HAPPEN.

So, what you are saying is that is way you contracted HIV and that you have never had unprotected vaginal or anal sex , nor have you shared works with other IV drug users and that you have always had perfect oral hygiene.

Rod,, Yes I can say hand on heart and swear on my childrens lives that I never had unprotected vaginal or anal sex with my gf or any other person. I did not claim to have perfect oral hygiene, and in this case it was agreed by my consultant that this was the cause of my infection.

So what was your point of this thread? You knew you took a risk by having poor oral hygiene. If one does not have poor oral hygiene then transmission risk is zilch. If one is a receiver it is zilch. That's all that we say.

from what I can see, the point of this thread was to simply highlight a concern someone had re risks and whether the information given was correct. Making personal comments gets us nowhere. I understand completely that this subject has been used for 'flaming' in the past but I'm sure Andys genuine. The more we discuss and share information here, the more we can help.

We've had complaints from posters in the Am I Infected forum about your PMs to them. Please do not PM people in that forum. IF you persist, we can revoke your PM privileged. Yes, we consider it a privileged here and if you abuse the PM system, you will not be allowed to use it. Please consider yourself warned.

I'm not going to argue with you about how you believe you became infected. However, the cumulative knowledge from over 25 years of this pandemic tells us that if you were indeed infected in this manner, you are the only one. Every other case where this claim was made has been disproven - I know because I've researched it extensively for my own peace of mind where my own partner is concerned. Sorry, but that's just the way it is.

I stand by everything I say in the Am I Infected forum. As I tell people there, I don't just talk the talk, I walk the walk too. I've read everything I can about hiv transmission (and have access to the NHS database of full-text scientific studies) and, well, I know what I'm talking about. Not only that, but I practice what I preach.

But anyway, even if what you say is true, that doesn't give you the right to stir up unnecessary anxieties in the already hyper-anxious Am I Infected forum via PMs. Thank you for your cooperation.
