A 'Magic' Moment
« on: January 26, 2007, 03:55:42 pm »
I was at a corporate event this week and was fortunate enough to attend a speech given by Magic Johnson.

Wow, what a class act and a man of many talents.  He looks fantastic and he was totally honest about his life, his sports career, his business and his challenge with HIV.

He was there to motivate a group of 1000 salespeople and he not only did that, he inspired many in the crowd who are dealing with HIV and other chronic illnesses.

Truly a lifechanging hour in terms of his ability to speak on so many topics with humility, humor and insight.

I left that room feeling like I could take on the world...  Sorry to ramble, just had to share.  Be well, friends.

Well I am glad you wrote of your experience.  I was just telling my girl how I could not stand him because I always thought he could do more.  I am corrected.
I despise the song Love is in the Air, you should too.

Thanks for sharing that story with us.

I kinna disagree with you Skeebo, I do think he has done more than his share with getting the word out there about Living with HIV. There have been many well known people before him, during and after he revealed he was positive but never went public. He comes out on certain television shows as does cameos which proves that although he is HIV poz people want to see him and has not shut himself from the media. I've heard from a few people that he brings up his HIV status even when there is an event where it is non related to health. He is the cover person for Kaletra and has appeared in a few talk shows. We don't hear much of him or see much of him, because television networks are all about ratings and money. So Magic Johnson talking about his status doesn't attract a wider audience.

Ramble all you want...there's nothing like someone having an influence on you - being a star or someone you just meet...That feeling is always worth talking about!  ;)
Don't hide your hurt, pain and feelings inside..for they will harden your heart.

I am happy you got something out of his sppech.

I remember that his wife said she cured him though. Talk about denial!
