Title: Winter itch
Post by: lucas clay on January 23, 2008, 04:01:05 am
Before my last visit to the I.D. doc i thought my numbers were going south, due to the way my skin felt (itch dry redness) like when my numbers were lower.
No it is the dry winter itch syndrome. maybe some gold bond will help.
Damn itching will drive you nuts.

Sometimes Cootie shampoo works for the itching even though there arent any. I think they must put somekind of antihistamine ingrediant into it and so it relieves itching.

Lucas, I've found that the only thing that helps my skin is Aveeno lotion.

You need a facial/body cleanser that contains glycolic acid as it will remove the layer of dead skin cells which harbor the nasties.  Use daily... rinse, repeat, etc.

I use a brand called Derma-E (no animal testing!) and have done so now for 8 years.  Some ancient HIV'er, long gone from this world now, keyed me in to this drill.

More severe breakouts, however, demand stronger prescription stuff IMO and will take a month to get yourself under control.

I also have found that the use of a humidifier beneficial during the winter months.
